I'm looking to beef up my Gateway GT5628, what are the best parts to make it run faster? Hi, I have a Gateway GT5628. I've been having problems with my RAM sticks and power supply so I just decided to add on or replace some parts. I'm planning on getting a new power supply, RAM, and a new video card (mine is currently only 256mb, nowhere near enough for current video games and such). I was just wondering if anyone new what was the best for my computer. Thanks in advance!

Question about parts for a Gateway M1617 laptop? I want to replace the disc drive on my M1617 laptop from gateway. My current disc drive does work, but it is tray-less and there for can not use mini-disks. So are there any pop out disk drives out there that are usable in a M1617 Gateway laptop?

Gateway parts into Emachines - Can this work? My Gateway 5-7 years old) died. The power supply died and took the processor with it, My sister has an Emachines that only has 4 gig memory and not sure about the other stuff. I know it's older and slow as all get out. Here are my questions - if I take out the parts that work in the Gateway, will they fit into the Emachines and help make her memory larger and her speed faster? Any other tips are welcome as well. Would i be able to use an old hp computer for parts on a reletively old gateway?See details...? Keep in mind the chemical does not have to be chemically or psychologically addictive or even addictive at all. Also, the term "drug" should be extended to include any action that could illicit an autonomic response (ie bungee jumping, shopping, sex, balancing your check book, watching TV) in a positive or negative way.

Gateway Alternatives (not wireless) and Gateway Question 2 part question? I have DSL Internet. I want to know if there are any different ways to connect a device (xbox 360) to the internet without using wireless and without a gateway. Where can I find a power button cover for a gateway 7320 laptop? My Gateway computer monitor isn't working and think it might be the power cord. Can it be any cord? It is a Gateway 19" LCD FPD1975W. Need help finding part for gateway laptop.? I have a Gateway MT6707 laptop that I pulled apart to fix a power supply problem. When I pulled the thing apart one of the wires going to what I'm pretty sure is the wireless card broke off and I cant re solder it back on. I've been trying to find a new one but I'm having a bit of trouble picking the right one. I've found a few websites that have cards with the same part number I'm finding on mine 27MA3WLTA27, the only thing is they list a ton of other gateway laptops and not mine the MT6707. There are a bunch for the MX series that are only around $37, I did find one sight that actually says its for the MT6707 but its $59. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the wireless cards or are they the same since they have the same part #? any help would be much appreciated.

Did Gateway breach warranty contract? I bought a tablet from Gateway January '08. It arrived defective and I was told to stop using it and send it in immediately for service. After three months of being ignored, insulted, drug through the mud, etc by GW customer and technical support, I filed a dispute with my cc company for Service not Provided. By June, the tablet had FINALLY been deemed irrepairable, after four rounds of 1) fraudulent 2) fix only 1 of 2 problems then 3) send it back BROKEN and 4) taking six weeks to do anything repair service. GW finally offered me a replacement in July, and about two weeks later my cc company agreed that I had been treated inexcusibly and they awarded me a credit for the service. Four months later, the Replacement needed a minor repair (plugging the LCD cable back in). Gateway said the part was on backorder. After two months I get an offer of a replacement with a regular notebook, not even the same kind of equipment I paid for. I refused it. Then they called back demanding my proof of purchase. Gateway does not provide a proof of purchase for replacement equipment!!! Gateway immediately called me a fraud, called me a liar, bullied me, and gave me no time to prove the tablet was mine (and REFUSED offers of immediate payment 3 times!) and had my tablet disassembled for parts. They tell me I was lucky they had the tablet in their possession because I escaped without them filing criminal charges against me and having me arrested. They claim that when one buys a product from them that is all one gets. Their service is not bought, therefore I was not protected by my cc contract, so they say the credit for service what I got was actually a REFUND for the PRODUCT (which I never wanted! I wanted it fixed or replaced! and besides I never owed Gateway a cent! my bill was with my credit card!). Gateway says the service I disputed about was not bought, therefore they are not liable, and that any fraudulent repair trips were an 'act of God'. They claim they are not liable for lost time or money lost due to inexcusible lengths of time the system is unusable. But I was checking my limited warranty and it specifically lists that technical support is part of what I paid for, and that the repairs were to have been done with as-new or like-new replacement parts and 'in a professional and workmanlike manner'. Well, lying about the system being in as-new condition, refusing to fix it (in 7:44am out 7:45am), only fixing half the problem and returning it with the other half WORSE, and then BREAKING it, and then holding it for an excessive length of time after having sent a defective product in the first play... that is neither professional or workmanlike. The warranty specifically states that the product would be free of defects at all times during the coverage period. Has Gateway breached the warranty contract? What are my legal options? What can I do to get my product replaced since they have destroyed it?

gateway 2 part eyeball help!!? i've been stuck on this for 2 weeks now,and i can't get passed it!!! How do I reactivate the "scroll by touch" feature on my Gateway laptop? It suddenly stopped allowing me, why? I was working in power point when my computer froze. Consequently, my laptop now will not allow me to utilize the part of the touch-sensitive-mouse-pad that is located to the far right on the pad. Who makes the motherboard thats in my GATEWAY PERFORMANCE 1000 PC? My PC was buitlt in 2001 and is a GATEWAY PERFORMANCE 1000. It has a PENTIUM 3 1.0GHz CPU with 3 slots for a total of 512mb of PC 133 SDRAM. The BIOS is by AMERICAN MEGATRENDS (AMIBIOS) and thats about all I can tell you about it. There are no part numbers or anything printed on the motherboard as a clue on who made it. I would like to know more about the CPU also. All I know about it is that it's a 1.0 GHZ PENTIUM 3. What is the part # and what upgrade if any can be done to this motherboard/CPU? If anybody out there knows anything about this please take a moment and clue me in! THANKS MUCH! we are looking to upgrade our two laptops one is an e-machine from gateway the other is a toshiba? Our question is how do we go about doing this we would rather know how to do it our self and what is the difference between mb, gb, and kb is. And what the memory capability of each is. Right now for the most part the computers are used to download games that have lots of accessories, and tend to be really slow we were told that by upgrading the memory this problem would improve. Where can I purchase a new LCD screen for my Gateway mx6124 laptop.? I believe the samsung screen part# LTN154X1-L03 is the replacement. I have seen a large variation in prices and wanted to know if anyone knows of a good source for replacement screens. (new, used, or refurbished)

Is my Gateway notebook badly damaged? I heard a crackling sound in my charger. It turns out one part of my charger is so bent, the rubber is cut off and you can see the metal wiring all bent. Obviously I am not using the computer anymore. Do you think this only damaged my charger or my computer? P.S Lately, my computer has been turning off by itself, and sometimes it does not turn on.

Routing if your own ip address the default gateway in windows xp? Hi I have two laptops running windows XP A & B which can ping each other just fine if i assign them the following ip addresses. They are connected via crossover cable. A: 192.168.0.1 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 B: 192.168.0.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0 However If i change the ip & subnet of B to B: 192.168.1.2 Subnet: 255.255.0.0 Ping from A ----> B gives an expected and immediate Desination host unreachable Ping from B ----> A gives me a Request Timed out since B succesfully sends the ping to A but A cannot route the pong back to B Now here is the weird part ... If I add the ip of A as the default gateway for A now B can ping A successfully and A can now route the pong back to B. WHY WHY WHY ?? Since all packets sent by A to A's ip address are sent back via loopback , I dont understand why adding it as a default gateway should allow the pong to reach the wire ?? Im not asking how to fix this problem but putting them in the same subnet. I realise they are in different subnets where one is subnet is a subset of the other. My question is why does adding the default gateway as "itself" allow the smaller subnet to be able to route packets to the larger subnet. Since all packets sent to itself are sent to loopback and never should show up on the wire. I dont know if this behaviour is OS specific..im running windows XP on both machines thats a "by" not a "but" in the above details..sorry for the typo
