When I use my laptop in certain location, I get no signal with my notebook card insert in the cardbus. EXPERTS ONLY Gateway solo 1450 wont power on.. wrong cable plugged in?? whats fried? I have a gateway solo 1450 that wont power on... Heres what I did - it was working before on battery power and when plugged in with cord then i could not find the power cord so i got a 12V that of course was not enough the light would turn on then off when i hit the power on button so i figured i would go higher I found one that was 21 Volts and plugged it in (ya dumb I know) nothing happened no pop, fiz, spark no sound at all not even the light turned on. The laptop says it needs 19 Volts well i found the 19Volt cord today and when i plugged it in the laptop lights would not come on and it would not power up could only 2 volts more/over the 19V fry something inside?? If so what I also have a gateway solo 1350 that has a broken screen so is it possible to use any parts on this laptop or is the MoBo fried? I know its not the cord because i plug it into the 1350 model and it works fine light turns on as soon as i plug it in. Any help would be appreciated. ok so i checked the cord that came with the laptop it says output: 19V 316mA then a positive sign in a circle and then a cirlce then a negative sign on the other plug that i put in it says Output: 21V 500mA then a negative sign then a circle then a postive sign so ya it has a different polarity??? what does that mean then what would have happened in a situation like this? I also heard there is a fuse in the laptop any info on how to replace that fuse I took the laptop apart already to see if i could see a burned transistor or sign of damage so i know how to take it apart but where is the fuse??? How would I get internet on my Gateway Solo, I don't know what model, if you can tell me ill give it to you, but my friend just gave it to me today and I have no clue what to do, and since there is no ethernet cable I cant hook up my extra ethernet connection, any ideas? Laptop Battery Gateway Solo 3150? My battery was getting low on my Gateway Solo Laptop. So I purchased a used one. When I put it in it said that the battery was "critically" low. So I switched it back to the original. Now the windows xp will not boot up. It starts too then the screen goes black. Can you help me connect my Gateway Solo 5300 laptop to my DSL Internet connection? I've had a Dell Inspiron connected to the Internet DSL style, with a Westell modem, and via a USB cable. I'd hoped--but not really expected--that it would be as simple as connecting the USB cable to my Gateway Solo's USB port and I'd be online. Huh-uh. Doesn't work. No flashing on the modem to detect any Internet connection. But Windows XP DID say "new modem, Westell, detected." It then says it can't find the software for it, and asks if I want to download it (via the Internet....There's a certain irony there when Windows asks if I want to download the software for a modem) So now I'm back online with the Dell Inspiron. What are the steps I need to take to get online with the Gateway? Do I need to download the driver with this computer, copy it to CD then install on my computer? And even after that, is there more to it than that...other steps I have to take?

Hey there, I've gotten a Gateway Solo 5300 laptop.[oddly i found it in the grass] And it had some problems but I've ordered a secondary parts laptop, so that I will have all I need to make one working laptop. But as I was trying to remove the top panel from the laptop. I got one side loose, but the other side is still stuck. I've removed the two top plastic pieces covering the hinges, the two screws apparently holding them to the base piece, and the ribbon for the screen. I can't get the[looking at it from the front, aka keyboard is facing me] right post to come free. The left side slid right out. But I'm just hoping to get it removed soon. Any help would be appreciated.
