Hello, I have an Acer notebook, and from time to time, it just shuts off without warning, no restarting...? Whenever I am doing *anything* on my laptop, in about an hour or two the damn thing just shuts off. No restarts, no warning, just a muffled click. I am perplexed here, and at first I blamed it on overheating, but eventually it started to shut down even when on a flat surface such as a desk. I ran multiple virus scans on my computer with no avail. I went back to thinking it was a problem with overheating but, I don't know. I would open it up and see if there is dog hair stuck innards of my laptop, but I don't want to invalidate any warranties when I all I have to mail to the Acer guys are just a bag of parts and a shrug. Any thoughts?

I ordered a ACER ASPIRE 5315-2153 notebook (certified) and it doesn't come with an ac adapter or power cord. Where can I find these parts? At a cheap price. Thanks. I mean recertified.

Having sound issues with new Acer Aspire 5100-5840 notebook... Anyone else have this prob and/or a solution? Basically, when I'm playing a song or watching a video on youtube, the audio crackles. I'd say I get normal audio about 85% of the time, but the rest of the time it throws in annoying sharp crack sounds that sound as if they're part of the song or audio file. This problem occurs in headphones, too, it's not just the speakers, and it seems to adjust according to volume (the louder the volume, the louder the crack noises). The listed sound card is "Realtek High Definition Audio", driver version 6.0.1.5334, dated 12/1/2006. So they're pretty new... Just wondering if anyone has a solution as the Acer tech support site isn't too useful and I don't really want to take it back to the store if I can avoid it, just seems like a lot of hassle. Thanks in advance. Thanks Humz. Actually that's the first thing I thought of, because my other laptop always did that -_-. But I appreciate the quick and great answer.
The AC Adapter for my Notebook is having problems. Should I buy a new one? It is a 5002 ACER Aspire notebook. Sometimes my notebook will say that it's charging, while other times it'll say that it's running on battery power even though it's plugged in. Often I have to play around with the wire part that's close to the notebook, by bending in in certain ways or moving the part that connects to the notebook from different angles, to get it to work? Sometimes if I leave it alone long enough while still turned on and plugged in, it'll run out of electricity. I went to different stores, and all of their universal notebook AC Adapters were $90-$120. I went online to ebay, and a lot of them are about $15 for the specific type I need. Other cheap online computer stores have similar prices. However, I've heard that you should be careful about super cheap online computer stores, because sometimes they rip you off by not including many parts of the product with the package and often won't come with a warranty, saw that on a news article. So I don't know if I should just buy a universal $90 one from Wal-Mart, get something off of ebay for $15, or find some other way to fix the problem?

What parts can make a Laptop faster? I own two laptops, a regular sized DELL Laptop XPS, and a Mini Acer Aspire Notebook PC. I have de-assembled my DELL laptop completely to fix it, and learn about it. It is now working in good condition. However my mini acer aspire laptop isn't really as fast as the DELL Laptop. I know these types of PC's were not meant for speed, but I wonder if I can make it speed up like the DELL, or maybe take some parts off the dell and put in the acer. I know it's not the ram, and hardrive. Is it the intel core processor? I may not know all of it, but I am still learning. My mini acer aspire has an "intel Atom", 250 Hardrive GB, 2.0 MB of Ram. I like it also because it was first started with Windows 7 Starter, so I upgraded it to Professional... Anyways, is it possible to make these PC's run faster and more capable of playing games better. Please don't tell me to clean it, cleaning it would not solve it, I clean it with disk clean up and defragment. I want to hear an answer from a more wiser and intelligent person who knows about PC parts. I made a mistake when spelling my Ram, I said 2.0 MB LOL I meant "2.0 GB of RAM."

Hi, Mine is an Acer TravelMate2424 notebook, which is just abt 4 months old,256mb 400mhz RAM,Intel 910 chipste,40GB hard disk,Win Xp SP2,14.1 screen. While booting, the display is shrunk. That is, full screen isn't displayed, instead, just a small part of the screen is utilised for display. This is rectified as soon as the Windows LOGON prompt appears. The display is restored to full screen then. Also, I'm not able to change the amount of Video Ram alottment, which I previously was able to.Please suggest a possible fix for this as soon as possible as I can give it for repair if its a hardware fault.Thank you!!!!
Help. Anyone have any ideas about the Acer Orbicam? Hey all. I purchased a notebook from Acer. It is the Acer Aspire 5570Z. Recently, I have been having trouble with my in built webcam. Apparently it installed and has an icon for 'Acer Orbicam', so I am assuming that it is indeed an Acer Orbicam webcam. Now, when I click on this icon, the normal window it has for capturing photos and video 'flashes'...as in it shows up and closes itself relatively quickly. If I try to have a webcam conversation on MSN Messenger, it says that I don't have a webcam installed or that it is busy and being used by another program. Also, sometimes when I start up my computer, it tells me that it has found an 'unknown USB device', so that may be part of the problem. Also, it stopped working after I tried to have a webcam conversation over msn. I clicked the webcam button it said that it was busy or that I didn't have a webcam. Does anyone have any ideas at all on how to fix this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and there is no difference, apart from the fact that the application opens, but the green light on the webcam doesn't go on. Any ideas at all?
Need to fix my headphone jack? Hi! I have an Acer Extensa 5230E notebook and the green part of the headphone jack fell out and now when I plug in headphones some sound is in the speakers and some in the computer. Mostly the PC. Oh and when I plug in the monitor and the sound cable laptop to screen, still partial sound in each part. So, since this is so annoying, do ANY of you know how to fix it? Much appreciated. Oh I think the only reason the sound is funky is because the phones are loose.
ASUS P50IJ-X1 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core T4300(2.10GHz)? Hi, I'm hoping there are some computer techies out there! I am torn between two laptops. Can you help me decide? I know this is opening up a can of worms, as everyone has their own opinion. I'm extremely cost driven and really I just want it for the convenience/portability. I don't do any gaming so I really don't care about the graphics. I am most interested in surfing the web, email, music, photos, just very basic stuff. So, it really doesn't need to be super fast or top of the line. I will post the specs on both laptops. The acer is $400 at BBuy and the Asus is $440 at Newegg. In regards to the processor, is the 2.0ghz that much better than the 1.2ghz? They are both the same price. The reviews on the Asus mentioned this "the T series cpu's from Intel don't carry the VT (Vanderpool Technology) required to use XP Mode. Only the E series and Q series processors have VT." Can someone explain to me what this means? I read somewhere that Windows 7 Home Premium has this problem, so what I am really interested in knowing, is would I have this same problem with the Acer? I'm hoping to make a decision in the next couple of hours, so please respond if you have any advice. Thanks! Wayward Mouse Icon, how to keep behaved? My cursor (Acer notebook pc) suddenly flies out to another spot on my work. This is quite irritating since as I type, the new text appears on that 'accidental spot' and not on the part of the ms word document i'm working on. My touchpad is active when i work, but I use the mouse mostly, and I don't think i accidentally touch the touchpad as I work. But i really would like to keep my touchpad active as it does come in handy at times. Can anyone suggest a way to deal with this problem?
Advice needed with Acer C100 Travelmate Tablet.? I have just bought a Acer C100 tablet pc. Its a small size and basically, I wanted it to put into my car to use as a GPS (Because its touch screen) and to use in my home in the bedroom, because its lightweight and has wifi and basically everything I need as a second computer. My problem is this. I have upgraded it to a 120gig HDD, as I will be storing a lot of media on it. Because it is a new HDD, it has no operating system on it. I have ordered a copy of Windows XP Tablet through Microsoft fulfilment services, but this is where the problem starts. I have no CD rom, so I'll be unable to install Windows on the machine. So, I'm wondering the following. 1. Can I remove the HDD, put it into a USB case and connect it to my other computer, and install Windows XP onto the HDD that way? 2. Can I copy Windows XP onto flash disk, plug the flash disk into the laptop and install Windows onto the computer that way? 3. Can I buy a external USB or PCMCIA case, put a dvd rom into that and plug it into the laptop and install Windows that way? I'm not sure if any of those ways will work. I have heard that I need to have a genuine Acer CD drive combo. This makes sense to me, because I have a HP notebook and I had to buy a genuine HP DVD drive for it. So, if that is the case, can anyone advise me of a part number, or a name of the item I need to buy?
What are 2GB DDR2 & 500GB SATA HDD? Currently I read an advertisement about new Acer notebooks. There's a part where they stated 2GB DDR2 & 500GB SATA HDD. What does it mean and what are they? By the way, what's NVIDIA GeForce?
£500 gaming notebook / laptop? Hi all, I have scoured the web for a day or so now, and am stuggling to navigate certain sites because im on 56k (dont ask) As you may have guessed from my internet connection, money is an issue for me, I am a student trying to get my most bang-for-buck when it comes to a new laptop. I don't want to run crysis. Im talking entry level gaming, which turns out about mid level overall. It should run WoW fine ( mid settings) and get a good Fps on source games online. But to be honest whatever is possible, the faster the better. AROUND £500 is the budget of course this can fluctuate according to the deal. -What I require. I have looked at various brands, specifically Dell, Acer and Asus. (please post if you know a small brand less costly alternative or whatever!) The latter 2 had fairly wierd sites that I didn't find particularly productive. I do however want this kind of thing... -- ANY SIZE SCREEN, cheapest -- Any speakers, cheapest -- Warranty bear minimum -- I do not care about accessories :) (inc. mouse webcam, fingerprint) -------------------MAIN STUFF---------------------- --HDD ## ----- HDD bigger than 120gb. 160 would probably be most price efficient( I don't see many under 250 now that arent with expensive extras) -- Operating system - At the moment it seems all new laptops come with vista as standard, and xp AS WELL costs more. As soon as I get this, I plan to dig up drivers for the model and downgrade to xp sp3, because for laptops at this price, I am certain that It is more efficient, (my friend downgaded his Amilo pi2515 and saw at least a 30-40% game performance increase) So if there are any deals that have xp instead, this would be amazing because it would be cheaper too (or just drivers, and let me supply OS, but thats a long shot). but I have come to terms with having vista initially. No macs please. (gaming) ## ----- Prefer xp for price and speed, if impossible, downgrade from vista manually = ok -- Processor - At the moment it seems that intel core 2 duo is the way to go (amd is not competing in the budget department), ## ----- Minimum T5870. THIS AND GPU ARE KEY COMPONENTS -- GPU - Must have dedicated graphics, an ati HD 3650 would be sweet, so would a 8600M GT, but seriously, this and cpu are VERY IMPORTANT, ## ----- Minimum, has to be dedicated (so ati or nvidia) -- RAM - as I am planning to downgrade to XP, i am aware that it can't handle more than 3gb. (Maybe windows seven will save the day here) Under 4gb really, but min 1-2gb. ## ----- Minimum 1gb max 3gb. -- wireless ## ----- Do not care if not included. -- Optic drive, do not care :). ##SUMMARY## CPU and GPU are really the key parts. a t8100 or a t8300 would be perfect, a radeon HD 3650 would also be perfect :D (or nvidia equivalent), I plan to use xp eventually, so keep ram in mind. It sounds very specific, but some rough answers would be nice, If you can find me something that suits the summary, you dont just get a medal or brownie points, you get best answer AND, I will make a few other questions and give you best answer on those too. so, Prize, is x3 best answers. (depends on how perfect answer is :P) Many many many thanks to any help at all, Lith

I spilled a sugary liquid on my notebooks keboard. The keys are sticky. How do I fix it? It's an Acer Aspire 3680. I took off the small machine screws on the back, and the top case sort of could be cracked open. I didn't force it open further. Replacement keyboards are about 35 bucks and they have a ribbon connector. I figure it can't be that difficult to remove in order to clean it out with some electronic parts cleaner, but I can't figure out how to remove the keyboard.
Is AMD processor reliable? Many years ago, I bought a desktop with AMD processor. At that time, Windows XP has not released, I tried to install a game Heroes of Might and Magic III and always get the "illegal operation" message not even before the installation start. This year, I bought an Acer notebook model Aspire 4520 using AMD Turon. This is hard part to explain.... Occassionally, I encounter windows crash, with my display turned into stripes color, something like this: http://accuracyandaesthetics.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/abstract-stripes-lines-of-colour-movement-speed-dominic-harris-t1_1771.jpg Maybe something else caused this, but how coincidentally these encounters from two different computers but have similar component: AMD. I'm planning to buy a new desktop, but my budget is tight. Should I continue buying AMD? Is AMD not so reliable? What say you?
Why do you need a wired network adapter? I went to Best Buy and purchased a wireless router. The last question I specifically remember asking the guy was do I need a network adapter. He said no. I got home and the first thing that I did was install the CD that came with it. I got to the last part of the installation. It said that my router and the host computer (wired, with no wireless capabilities (which I told the guy the day before)) were not connected. The thing is I just plugged the Ethernet Cable from my computer into Port 1 of the modem. I tried unplugging and re-plugging this thing until I just got tired of it. I go to check the instructions and one of the first things that it says I will need is a wired adapter. The thing I want to know is was there something I did wrong on my part and don't need one, or if I do need one, what does it do. -Windows XP Starlogic desktop (LAN-connected) -Windows Vista Acer Notebook (WLAN enabled-not connected) -WRT546 LinkSys wireless router -Westell 6100 DSL modem
Mac Desktops, all they're cracked up to be? My desktop's the better part of a decade old, needless to say, I need a new one. I saw the ads on TV for a Mac Desktop (I think they're called iMacs or something) and they seem to sound way better then anything else out there. On my computer I use Microsoft Word, Movie Maker, Photoshop, and I also play a wide variation of games so I really need something that can handle those programs without freezing up and crashing on me (like my horrible Acer notebook did) and it should also have a lot of room, I love to save everything. I don't personally know anyone with a Mac so I can't ask what it has in terms of a Movie Making software and writing programs that it may come with, or how well it works compared to a normal desktop and I would really like to know which one would be best so I can start saving up for one.
Problem opening pictures recorded on CDs, please help? I own an Acer Aspire 1353LC notebook. After I record a CD with pictures I have taken with my digital camera and try to open it, although all the icons appear, only part of them can be displayed as thumbnails, the rest cannot and if I try to open them the computer gets jammed and I have to manually eject the disc and restart it. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. This happens with both Nero and NTI CD Maker, the answer is probably not to do anything else while burning as wparker suggested. I shall try that. Thank you all very much for your help.
What notebook is better for me? Okay, so 16 and just got a part time job. Getting to the point i am seeking a laptop. I want this to be an "all-purpose" excelling at all areas rather than just one area; business, gaming, school/education, etc....I see the HP EliteBook 8440w, Toshiba Satellite U505-S2980, and Macbook pro being the best contenders; however these are either not to my appeal, or out of my price range. So,....ive narrowed it down to two: Dell Inspiron i1564-8634OBK 1564, and the Acer Aspire AS5740-5255. Which is better??? Some gaming(Guild Wars, Diablo, Fusionfall) and school work as well as a truckload of music. Which would i like more you think, or you like more also?
Used and New Laptop Blues :(? i want to sell a used a 3 year old toshiba laptop, 13' screen. it does have its problems, but is mostly in okay shape, but the screen no longer works. i have put about $300 in repairs into it, orginal price $799. i also have an almost new acer lcd monitor that i would like to sell for close to full price, $170. where can i get estimates on these, and what would be the best way to sell them? pawn shops, ebay, facebook advertising, paper classifieds? 2nd part: i am looking for a new laptop/notebook under $250. i am a student, and i want something smaller. i have looked at Asus Eee HP Mini MSI Wind Gateway Notebook Acer AspireOne Dell Inspiron Mirus Netbook Dell Mini10 Cendyne Via IBM Thinkpad is there anything you would recommend to me or warn me to stay away from?
Is an Apple Mac. notebook worth buying? And so I've been using an Acer Laptop for 3 years now and it works fine. It's my first laptop and I'm not the kind to get a new laptop every year. It's not just financially impossible for me. So I went to that store and I saw a beautiful Apple Mac. laptop and I fell in love with it! What are the advantages and the drawbacks of getting one? I mean apart from the financial part... Oh I am not so much interested on gaming, I want to use it for internet, downloading music, burning DVDs and CDs, all that kind of stuff.

My CD/DVD ROM drive is not working.? I have an ACER Aspire 5532 notebook computer. I was trying to import some CDs onto my iTunes library. I do not have the option to import the CDs, and when I run a diagnostic it is saying it is unable to read the audio CD. I was removing some of the preloaded software and was wondering if I may have accidentally removed a part of the driver that deals with importing CDs. Your help would be much appreciated!

What is the name of this certain computer part, and where can I obtain one? My parents bought an Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook for me a few months ago. After having it for a few months, my hard drive broke, so I contacted the company. I sent in the hard drive to get a free replacement. When I removed the hard drive, I also removed a rectangular, three-sided metalic piece that screws into the hard drive and laptop itself and sent it in with the hard drive. When I got the new hard drive, this metalic piece was gone. I've contacted Acer multiple times to try to get a replacement, but no one seems to know what I am talking about when I describe the metalic piece. Does anyone know what that rectangular, three-sided metalic piece is called? Does it even really have a technical name? I wasn't sure if knowing the technical name would help me obtain one from Acer or somewhere else. That leads to my next question. Does anyone know where I could get one of those pieces that would fit my computer and hard drive?

Does Alienware Make the Best Gamer Laptop? I've been on Y!A in the computer section for over a year now, answering questions and helping people with problems. I may be in the market for a good laptop computer here soon. I have been doing my homework. I am comparing prices, features and warranties. I have never owned a laptop before, and frankly, the reason why is because I have heard so many BAD things about them - especially, when something goes wrong...the lousy warrenties, the cheap builds, the hype cover ups on second rate parts. So I stuck with desktops. But now, I am seriously thinking of getting a laptop and I would like to have your advice. I have heard that Alienware makes the best gamer laptops. But in searching the net, I have run across a few other name brands: Schenker Notebook CLEVO Notebooks Is Alienware really the best? Who owns one here? How about these other ones. Compare the XPS Dell's. Compare HP. How about Gateway, Asus, Acer...etc? Who has the best gamer, the best warranty, the best parts, and so forth? How about your experience with failed parts? How long do they last before they go kaput? I've asked similar questions now and have gotten very few answers. I need more INPUT from all of you, anyone who cares to remark (although, just saying a laptop is great or stinks, just doesn't cut it - WHY, is it great or WHY does it stink?) Come on, give me some help and advice. I NEED advice! Please answer this question and give me your reasons and whys? What should I be thinking of getting? I want to use it for business purposes and gaming both. That is why I am thinking of a gamer. It could go as high as $3000 - $4000 IF it is the right one for me. Sorry, but Yahoo Answers is not letting me post this on the Laptop Section..So I put it here.

Help with a Toshiba Satellite P35? Ok, I have been repairing and custom building computers since I was 13 I am now 21, and this is just the strangest thing I have ever seen. I have a Toshiba Satellite P35-S6053 that I received from a friend, he claimed that the only problem was that it wouldn't charge. I fixed that problem real quick, he had it hooked up to a 12v 60W charger, this beast requires 19v 120w. So now I have the computer powering on, apparently when the computer stopped working for him he was in the middle of a Windows XP upgrade, the disk was even still in the drive when I got it. But the upgrade kept failing. I have tons of windows, Linux, and even osx86 disk's laying around, and this is where I started noticing problems. Ill just put them all in list form. 1. Wont boot from a CD unless I remove the HDD(Boot priority is set wrong) 2. Wont let me enter bios setup(its like the F2 key doesn't work, I even tried a external keyboard) 3. I CAN press F12 to enter boot list(but then it wont let me select anything, its like the arrow keys then stop working) 4. I removed the HDD, booted windows setup, and reconnected the hdd as soon as it said "press any key to boot from CD/DVD" I was able to navigate through the windows setup until I was ready to install and it said "press enter to continue" it wouldn't let me press enter. BUT if I press F3 to quit the setup I tells me to wait 30 Seconds OR press enter to restart now, and at that point I can press enter to abort the install. 5. I placed the HDD into another computer, installed windows on it from there, put the HDD back into the computer, and when I go to boot windows I get to the screen where it says "Windows is loading files" and it has the grey loading bar. But it only makes it about 75% and the computer restarts. I am at a complete loss, I have never experienced anything like this before, I have tried re-flashing the bios, and replacing the ram(didn't think the ram thing would work but I was worth a shot). At this point I have no clue what to do. The next thing I'm going to try is to boot from a ubuntu live CD, but even if I can get it to boot it still really wont fix my problem. I have a Windows 7 desktop and a macbookPro at my disposal to aid in me fixing this. (well technically the macbookPro is a Acer aspire 5920 that I have natively running leopard 10.5.8, but its just as good as the real deal.) And as soon as I can fix the DC jack on my old gateway notebook I will have that too. I mention this because maybe there is some swapping of parts I can do, or maybe a network boot. ( note I have never done a network boot in my life, but if someone could walk me through it maybe it could work.) Please there has got to be someone out there who could help me with this, This laptop is a beast and I would love to get it working again. I have completely replaced the memory and still no luck. Alright!!! I fixed it. After disassembling the computer i found the CMOS battery and De-soldered it and soldered it back on after about 10 minutes. That completely reset the bios, all of the problems still existed except with the bios reset to factory default i was able to boot a CD. I went to boot a Linux live CD and got a error message reading "CD/DVD boot enabled please release shift key to continue". After seeing that i connected a usb Keyboard, still no luck. Then it just hit me...I removed the laptops keyboard, and now all if fine. The shift key is not stuck, as a matter of fact the KB looks almost new, but there is a weird bend in the ribbon cable and i believe it was shorting out.

Which is better? HP 6715s laptop vs Aspire 3000? The HP 6715s is 3500+ processor budget laptop built by HP, it's part of the Compaq business series. The HO 6715S 15.4 inch screen, which can be considered a big DTR (Desktop Replacement). The specs for this particular model are: AMD Sempron Mobile 3500+ 512 MB DDR RAM (1 dimm.) 80 GB 5400 Rpm Hard Drive 15.4" XGA monitor Windows Vista Business 8802.11a/b/g internal WLAN Reasons for Buying: I bought this laptop to replace my old Sony laptop, which kept overheating constantly. I wanted a notebook for basic tasks, and maybe some occasional games at the lowest price. I wanted built in wireless, at least a 40 GB HD, CD Burner/DVD-ROM drive and 256 MB RAM. Some other laptops I looked at were the following: Acer aspire 3000(battery) Dell Inspirion 6000 (Celeron M) (battery) ibm thinkpad t41(battery) Sony pcga-bp71(battery) Sony vgp-bps2(battery) Sony vgp-bpl2(battery) I didn't have any experience with onlins shopping process, and I found out that Celeron M's are just stripped down Pentium M's, which isn't very good, and the i6000 seemed a bit bulky. Build & Design: I am impressed by Acer's "folio" design. It looks professional, clean looking, and gives the laptop a feeling that it is worth more than it looks. It's curved lines make it seem a lot thinner than it is, even though it isn't really that thick in the first place. The case feels a little flimsy at the wrist rest areas and the screen has a little flex, but the overall build quality of the case feels solid. The case is made up of plastic with a metallic silver look, it feels smooth to the touch. The notebook weighs about 6 pounds. It feels a little heavy, but it is relatively light compared to my old 8 pound Toshiba notebook. The screen hinges feel solid. There is some rippling of the screen that occurs if you push in on the back of the lid. Overall the build quality is OK, good for everyday use, but it's not meant for taking excessive abuse or being taken into the wilderness. from:http://www.laptop-battery-charger.net
Why won't bluetooth detect devices? I have an Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows Vista installed, and I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and have been trying to connect it fruitlessly. I've searched for help online, but all of it is mostly along the lines of "Make sure bluetooth is enabled." or "Make sure the device is turned on." The mouse is turned on and set to be detected. My bluetooth is enabled on my laptop. I've tired updating the drivers but the device manager says they're up to date. The Bluetooth device manager just simply will not detect the mouse. Worst part is, originally it did detect the mouse, but the drivers wouldn't install. After following Microsoft's directions, it failed to detect the device at all. After undoing the changes, it still refuses to detect any bluetooth device.

Office 2003 setup on a system recovery partition? - Locate product key? Hi there. I have an Acer Aspire 5100 that came with Windows Vista Home Basic. I did a full system recovery but realized Microsoft Office was not part of the system recovery. I did some browsing around the system recovery partition on my D Drive and i found the Microsoft Office 2003 setup program. I was expecting Office 2007 since my notebook has Windows Vista installed. I launched it and it is asking for the product key. There is no office tag on the laptop and the notebook did not come with a microsoft office cd. How and where on the recovery partition can i recover this key? Thanks
How to convert RealPlayer files into something that Windows Media recognizes? I'm using a notebook computer that has Vista. The kids told me that realplayer made it easy to downloade youtube videos, and it does, but then you can't make dvd's with the free part of realplayer. I have several programs that say they can make DVDs including Windows DVD maker, NTI CD and DVD-maker and Acer Arcade Delux, but they don't even recognize that the RealPlayer files are video files. Is there any way to convert the files so that the other program recognize they are videos, or do I need to re-download all of them, in a different program? But that's why I got realplayer in the first place...@#^$%#!!##!

Notetebook brands - main difference? What is the main difference among the various notebook brands? Consider the following: Acer, MSI, Dell, Asus, HP, etc. etc. etc... they create notebooks, but what do they put into their notebooks: Intel CPUs, AMD CPUs, winchesters, RAM from other equipment manufacturers... So... does it at all matter which notebook brand I buy, if all of them (more or less) use the same parts inside?
