Is it possible for me to replace the graphics card in my hp dv2000 notebook without having to send it in? I've had a diagnostic test done at Staples, and they say my graphics card is bad, but they want 400$ to send it off for repair. I have priced the graphics card and it is under 100$. I am having issues with my HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook.? The webcam is not working at all. It did work at one point. It is not detected, and under device manager there are no imaging devices found. When I go to all programs, system recovery also is not there. The HP website does not appear to have a driver that will assist me. Help with HP Notebook Black screen? Hello, I am having a issue with my Hp G60-630US notebook and I am at a lost at how to solve it. The problem started about two weeks ago during a party. My laptop was dropped I picked it up and everything seemed fine, then the next day when I turned it on I found myself staring at a black screen no POST, no Bios, but the led lights ,the back-light ,the hdd indicator , fan, and dvd drive were working . At first I figured it may just be an error so I restarted it but unfortunately nothing changed. Being partially computer savvy and a bit desperate I began to scour the internet seeking a resolution.So I happened upon a few forums describing possible solutions, but nothing so far has worked. Before I go out and spend money on replacement parts and such I'd at least like to narrow down the issue. Things I've Tried: 1. Removing Battery and power cord, holding power button for 30-60 seconds. 2. Powering Laptop on with Lcd screen at an angle 3. Removing and re-seating RAM and Hard-drive ( The latter of which caused the backlight and hdd indicator to stop functioning) 4. Holding down fn +f4 while powering on Please help me with this dilemma, any assistance will be greatly appreciated as I don't have the finances currently to afford a new laptop.

i have some questions about the hp mini 1000 notebook? im looking for a laptop thats cheap and the commercial for this one caught my eye. i did some research and like almost everything about it. i basically only want laptop for internet and music. HP Notebook HDD crash (10pts for solid answer)? Okay so I've had my notebook (dx6650us) for about 1 1/2 years. 8 months ago the primary hard drive crashed so I called HP tech support after I had ran the diagnostic test to confirm it. They promptly sent me a new HDD and recovery CD and told me I could replace it myself. The HDD they sent me was the wrong one however and after calling them they told me I needed to mail the entire thing back because the correct part was no loner available. A week or so later I got it back and everything was back to normal. Moving ahead 6 months I have encountered the same problem. Except this time the warranty is expired. They told me that it was going to cost me $300 dollars to fix or they would sell me a P.O.S Compaq for $450. Of course I wouldn't want to buy a new laptop because mine is pretty freakin' new. I figured they would understand that it was a reoccurring problem and either fix it again or offer me a better solution then this. The notebook was $700 new and I have a hard time believing $300 of that was one flippin' HDD. Has anyone else encountered this issue? What would cause this to keep happening? What options do I have? Can I buy a HDD myself and use the recovery CD to reinstall windows? Does anyone have any possible answers for an HP notebook that won't turn on? It's an HP g62-234 dx notebook. I bought it last year, so it is out of warranty. One morning, I found out that it would not turn on. I thought that maybe the battery died, so I plugged the charger in the outlet. It wouldn't turn on. I noticed that the light on the right side where the charger goes in does not turn on. I was thinking that maybe it is the charger but previously, I have been having problems with the battery because it died out pretty quickly. I have a G60-125 HP Notebook I am trying to replace/Fix RAM in. Need Help.? Well. It has a 2GB RAM Stick(Ramaxel) and 1GB Stick. I recently was fixing the computer and took out the 1GB Stick that was bad, leaving the PC with 1 GB of RAM. However I became dumb in my moment and completely forgot which slot I should insert the 2GB Stick into to make the PC recognize it and run properly. It is a Ramaxel 1GB 1RX8 PC2-5300S-555 LF Stick. I would also like to inquire about replacing this 1GB Stick as I know I can get the same brand and Frequency, but was wondering if the NN008091670005457 and the other parts matter. I think it is a 667 Memory Stick. Would anything else matter in terms of model number as long as the specs were the same and would fit into the slot? Everything on the Memory Stick I was searching online was the same as the stick I have, but was wondering if the number in the bottom left hand corner mattered(I believe it to be model number). Why am I hearing clicks and pops internally in different parts of my laptop as I hear it internally running? is it being strained? HP Pavillion dv4 1220 Notebook problem? I have an HP Pavillion dv4 1220 notebook that I hooked up to my HDTV with an HDMI cable because I just moved and didn't have a DVD player. This was the least expensive option for me at the time. Every thing worked just fine and I got halfway through my movie until a pop came from my computer and when I went to check on it the computer was off. I tried to turn it back on but only got a flash of lights then it was dead again. I tried changing power cables and cleaning the dust away with an air can. What other options should I exhaust before sending this back, it is covered by warranty but I am confident I could replace certain parts. Any suggestions?

3 q's; Dual boot Xp (ins.) and Win 7, XBOX through PC monitor, and laptops with same keys as HP DV7 2014tx? First; I have a Windows XP desktop, and I would like to dual boot it with Windows 7. HP n5445 notebook screen goes green when tilted past 90 degrees from closed position? I noticed a problem with blinking that could be sometimes corrected by tapping the screen or running malware scans. But now, it appears that tilting the screen towards the closed position makes the problem go away. Also, it will not download a security high priority update from Microsoft. Not sure if this is part of the screen problem or not. HP had notes on their site saying that a malware producer was using their update program routing to install malware on computers when they had their updates set to automatic. I suspected this when, at times, my desktop would freeze up and the only thing running in the task manager was HP Updates. I am not too sure whether to trust HP at this point unless I personally visit their site for a particular designated update that I find is there when I go there. So what is the fix for the screen problem?

HP pavillion notebook won't turn on properly?!? Hey everyone!! I have an HP pivillion dv2000 that I got as a christmas present from my folks about 2-3 years ago. It's my first laptop, and it ran perfectly for the next years! I thought it was the best laptop ever! But, then, a few months came, and it kept getting slower, and almost nothing on it worked. Came to a conclusion that I had a virus, but the sad part is, I came to that conclusion when my laptop didn't turn on properly, and a virus had erased all the memory on there, according to this computer "guy". Well, I took it to this computer guy, and he fixed for me. I had fewer programs, some were even new! HP G60 Notebook, Key sticking? Since yesterday, the right key on my laptop has been sticking. I posted this question after researching the amount of days the HP generally spends in producing computers. I have found that it takes about 10 days to do this. I would assume the extra 8 days are based on part availability and would like to know based on others experience which parts generally create delays in production. Hp laptop was sent to HP for warranty repair- Is the Hard Drive safe? I had a part fail on my HP notebook so I sent it to Hp for repair under warranty. I sent it through best buy and refused there offer to backup my hard drive for $160. I did not expect the Hard drive to be any issue so the Geek squad guy has made me very uneasy as I did not even think erasing my hard drive would even be thinkable because all HP has to do is replace the fan. Can someone please confirm with me weather my hard drive will be safe or not? I mean what business does HP have to erase a hard drive when the laptop was sent in to have a fan replaced only. My hp pavilion zt1120 notebook shuts down by itself every 5-10 min. (overheating problem)? Having issues with built in microphone after upgrading to windows 7? I have an HP laptop, part of the dv6000 entertainment notebook series. It was running Vista, and the build in microphone was fine. Windows not seeing internal DVD drive HP Pavilion? i have a HP DV4000 notebook with the factory DVD RW. Windows can no longer recognize it. There is no drive letter associated with it nor is it in the device manager. The bios is a little difficult to read and does not cleary state which part is associated with the DVD. Its not totally dead as disks do spin up when inserted. I think its just out of warranty (typical) so I am hoping its software related. System scans with adware and antivirus software have found nothing.

why can't i change the screen resolution on my HP compaq mini 110 notebook? I have tried to change it in the display settings tab and the slider is right down to the left, but it just won't move when i try to move it to the right. I have been through my 'troubleshooter' and checked the drivers etc and changed the 'hardware acceleration' to 'none' but nothing has made any difference. The reason why I'm trying to do this is that I'm doing an online ECDL course and coursework opens in a window that is too small for its contents but it can't be scrolled down and no matter how big i stretch the window the bottom part soesn't display so I can't do my work unless i fix this problem. I'm told changing the resolution will fix it, but if anyone has any other advice as to how to sort the problem I'd be very grateful! thank you.

Is this the right part for a HP 1233se? I have a HP 1233se Pavilion Notebook. The left tab button on the mouse pad was wobbly so I sent it in. HP called me today and said the part was broken so it wasn't covered and told me the part that needed to be replaced is a "Top Switch Cover Assembly" and the part number is 506505-001. I found this part on a few websites but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the mouse pad tab. The button works, it's just wobbly. All pics of this part shows it to be the top portion above the keyboard where the speakers and touch buttons are. They claim it's because a plastic piece that hold the tab button broke but how in the world is it connected to the top part of the keyboard??? any problems w/HP warranty or service? My HP notebook wireless card had a problem so they had me send it in for repair promising that it would be returned in 7 days. When that day came and went I called to find out the status and was told it was going to be another 45 days until it was scheduled to be returned because the part that was needed was going to be on back order. I found their customer service department to be completely unhelpful and barely understandable. Has anyone else experienced problems like this? How did you get it resolved, if at all?

The case feels a little flimsy at the wrist rest areas and the screen has a little flex, but the overall build quality of the case feels solid. The case is made up of plastic with a metallic silver look, it feels smooth to the touch. The notebook weighs about 6 pounds. It feels a little heavy, but it is relatively light compared to my old 8 pound Toshiba notebook. The screen hinges feel solid. There is some rippling of the screen that occurs if you push in on the back of the lid. Which notebook should i get?!?!?!?!?!? Hey, okay so I'm in need for a new laptop because my current Dell laptop has a broken trackpad. I have narrowed it down to 3 notebooks. The first one is a Dell Inspiron 1525(link below). HP Dv5z(link below), and a HP Dv2000us?(i think thats the name of it!) How do I fix a loose IDE cable? I occasionally get an error on my laptop upon booting and I suspect a loose IDE cable could be the culprit. The problem is, my notebook is an HP Pavilion and I'm not sure if I can personally access the inside to check if that's the problem. How do I know if my HP battery is part of the recalled batch or not? I recently bought a couple of used HP laptop batteries on Craigslist. But after I got home, I realized the first two letters on the each of the batteries is the one listed for recall. Now when I went to the HP website to enter the entire battery code to figure out if these batteries were recalled, it asked for the serial number on the laptop. Now since I bought it from someone else, I do not have the serial number. And I am unable to contact that guy. I do not want to risk using a recalled battery. I bought an hp dv2700 and it's grainy? I have an HP desktop and the display is very bright and clear. I received my HP Pavilion dv2700 today.. and everything is great except the display. When I am on Word the blank screen looks almost grey! This is a big part of the reason I decided NOT to buy a tablet, yet this notebook is doing the same thing. Could this just be a faulty display? What's the Difference Between a 128mb nVidia Video Card and a 383mb? I'm thinking of buying a new Media Notebook (to be specific, a Dell Inspiron 1520 and HP dv6500t) and want a nVidia Video Card. Yet, i'm a bit confused about one part. Both Computers can be installed with the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS. Yet, the HP has a 383mb version, while the Dell has a 128mb version. Laptop makes sounds when connected to wireless internet? I have an HP dv6000 notebook and am currently using it for wireless internet in my house. besides many problems that i have had with this notebook (downgrading to xp, etc.) its been quiet for a while now. However, starting yesterday...when connected to wireless internet and actively typing or scrolling the speakers seem to be giving off this rattling, raspy, interference, static sound. Sounds similar when you bring a cell phone close to a computer and it makes the short sequence of beeps, cept this is annoying and loud. What could this be a part of? is it interference? the hp notebooks have been full of soundcard trouble...is it somethng with the driver? when i mute the speakers, it stops... but i listen to music frequently so there seems to be no getting around it. does anyone know what is causing this?
