Are gateway desktop computers any good? Are they reliable? As good as HP and Acer?
have a gateway desktop computer want to build gaming syatem, but does not have DVI is this a problem? this gateway desktop is from 2006, but we are not sure if we can make it a gaming computer without DVI will this computer give us problems?
external hard drive works on all computers except this gateway desktop? When plugging in this external hard drive it freezes the computer forcing the user to shut down the computer. Then it will not boot up unless the external hard drive is unplugged. Does anyone know why?
I have a Gateway desktop computer with no monitor will any monitor work? I have tried a gateway monitor and it does not work and i have tried one other and no luck. My gateway desktop computer won't start, it beeps 5 times and sometimes continously.? I got a Gateway desktop two years ago. A few months back it strted resetting for no reason. Soon after I began getting a variety of blue screens and Stop messages. At the same time windows hotfixes won't run nor would a windows update (running Vista). Decided to reinstall the op system. It's still crashing and I'm still getting the five beeps on occassion. Any suggestions before I take the thing outside and repeatably run over it with my car?!

I have an older model Gateway Desktop computer and the modem is not turning on for some reason? The orange light stays on when I try to start it up, the monitor works fine but when I try to start the modem the light stays orange and nothing happens? The monitor has a message that reads "self check test the monitor is working properly" But the modem will not start? Do I need a new hard drive? Or could it be I just need a new modem? Everything is plugged in and hooked up properly but I think the modem is dead. The green light never comes on...Any ideas on what the problem may be?

I need computer help on my gateway desktop computer? This is what happens : When you hit the power button the fan goes on, but does not power up. You have to force quit the system for the fan to stop. I try turning it on later and unplugging everything and letting it rest but nothing. I bought a gateway desktop computer in Jan now it shutdowns unexspectly I took it to see what was wrong with? it but they found nothing wrong with it. While they had it didn't turn off at all when I got it back home and hooked it back up it started doing the same thing. On or offline it just shutsdown by itself. My computer comes with vista. I don't put too much strain on my computer, but I stream a lot of movies (from netflix, for example), Browse the internet, use photoshop, writing reports, etc--nothing too strenuous on the computer. But my current one now still freezes up when doing simple things like trying to pause and netflix video (the wasn't a network problem, it was the computer). I've tried re-installing the OS (xp) and cleaning up the computer again and again, but it's not the software. I'm not completely computer savvy) -Intel® Core™ i3-530 Processor -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bit - 6GB DDR3 memory -1TB hard drive1 - Intel® GMA X4500HD Anyway, If I add a cheap monitor and an internal wireless card, it would run me about $700, witch seems pretty good. I can't really go above 700... So, do you think gateways are trustworthy? How do you write the hard drive on a Gateway computer back to zero's? I have an older Gateway desktop computer that currently has Windows XP as the O.S. I am giving away this computer and I want to make sure all of my information is wiped off the hard drive. Can anyone tell me how to write the computer back to zero's or what to do to clear out the hard drive. It is a Intel Pentium111. When the computer was new it came with Microsoft Windows 98 on it. Help with gateway desktop computer? My computer's device manager has yellow question marks by -ethernet controller -pci simple communications controller -sm bus controller -video controller how can i reinstall them? the recovery cd is letting me do it. I'm on a gateway labtop right now. Also is there any way I can download it on here and then burn it to the desktop so it can work. Gateway support isn't helping me. Should i just bring it to comp usa and pay $99 for them to fix it. PLEASE HELP!!!! when i delete it and then reboot it, it is saying i need to use the internet to install them again. Gateway Desktop Computer, help? anyone have a GATEWAY desktop computer with problems with CD/DVD RW and/or the monitor? IF YOU CAN HELP, my monitor is a replacement for the original one i bought. BOTH the original and the replacement turn off or do not turn on at all. in addition, the replacement and the original CD/DVD RW burner does not play store bought cd's/dvd's. My Gateway desktop computer will no longer turn on.? My family's desktop computer is a Gateway model number GM5688E. We've had it for about four years, it had been working fine up until yesterday, but today the computer will not turn on. No light goes on, no fans power up, no boot-up, nothing. Everything else plugged into the power strip it's plugged into (our wireless router, printer, and monitor) all turn on and work, I've tried plugging it in different plugs and switching out the power strips, it's not the problem. Checked the AC plug, it's fine. My father even tested the voltage on it and it still outputs electricity. It's not the inside of the computer since it's free of dust and all wires are connected and look fine. I tried calling the Gateway Customer Support phone number located on the tower, but humorously I get some kind of shopping network instead. Tried going to the Gateway website, and tried inputting the serial number for the system but the website wouldn't recognize it (it's 13 alphanumeric digits and they wanted a 22 digit code), so at this point I'm not really sure what to try to do, as I'm not really tech-savvy.
FX Gateway Desktop Computer issues? Hello. I got a brand new computer for Christmas. Its a Gateway FX desktop with Windows VIsta. If you need more specs please let me know and show me what to do so I can copy/paste it here. Anyways, I notice that my computer seems to be making a buzzing sound. It seems to be a fan. I took off the side panel and blew into the fan lightly and it stopped but then started 2 seconds after. I've also tapped on the back and it stopped momentarily. Its kinda annoying but is it suppose to be doing that? Sometimes I notice that my screen kinda fuzzy. Its not bad and I can kinda deal with it but I am not too happy with it. I've pressed refresh and it didn't seem to take care of it. I noticed it did it with my Flight Sim so I changed the resolution but it didn't seem to help. I have a HDMI Gateway 22" 1680x1050 screen. Also, whenever I hit the scroll/caps/number lock key a little pop up in the right hand corner comes up. I don't mind it but when I use Flight Sim it stops the FS and is very annoying, any way to disable that? My parents paid a good amount for this so I am somewhat disappointed I'm having these problems and its only been 3 days. Thanks so much!

Reinstall Windows on my Gateway desktop computer? Please help? I have a Gateway 5040 with Windows XP Media Center installed. I attempted to install service pack 3. It installed for about 30 minutes then it failed with some errors. ( i didnt write down the error msgs) Anyway, I rebooted. The computer came up but is doing some odd things. Gateway Desktop will not boot? I have recently gotten a gateway desktop computer, and i got a freespire linux cd for an os, and when i installed it everything said it was installed and no errors, but when i started it up again, all the gateway does is go to the gateway screen, and say BIOS F2, and BOOT F10, so i dont know what to do, i tried clicking F2 and F10, and nothing happened. Desktop computer keeps shutting off by itself? Ok, so our Gateway desktop computer keeps shutting off by itself. Like it will stay on for a couple of minutes then it will shut off by itself. So we cleaned the fan and everything which is what we thought was the problem (and there was a lot of dust in it.) So then it still kept doing it. So we got a new power supply and changed that and it still kept going off by itself. So what else could be wrong with it? Thanks so much!

gateway desktop computer won't turn on? this is a copy and continuation of a previos question from nunnayo b last week. "From the computer being COMPLETELY off, when I hit the power button the power light (on the button, on the tower) never turns green. It stays orange (which is the color of Standby Mode - for a Gateway). The keyboard/mouse/monitor don't register because the computer isn't really "on". Does anyone have a fix for this? help with a gateway desktop computer. no signal on monitor.? the monitor is physically connected to the cpu and so is the mouse but when i turn the cpu on there is no signal being detected by the monitor and the mouse does not light up either can someone please help me. what could have caused this, it just started doing this about a week ago.

If my personal desktop Gateway computer is a part of a network that is being shared by 2 other comp. w/o my ok To finish the above--my computer is apparently on a network with 2 other computers without my permission. How do I find out who/where the other 2 computers on "my network" are located. I have Limewire Pro 4.12.11 which I do not want to remove but want information on the other two computers. I talked to a computer person at my local "know all" computer store and I was told that I could not find out who or where---I do not believe that answer. How do I print from my wireless laptop to a printer connected to my desktop with an ATT gateway? I have an ATT gateway that I connected wirelessly to for the internet on my laptop. My desktop is also connected directly to the gateway as well as the printer. Help with my Gateway desktop computer? PLEASE! Best answer.? It's NEW. We got it about a month ago, but it just WONT TURN ON. I went to get on it one day, and it was frozen. I have an Gateway desktop computer and can not get on the internet any suggestions? Ok so here is the deal I had allot of virus (no that were effecting computer except making it slow) so a friend cleaned them all off and when he did so it also did something with the connection cause it would not connect. When I went to quest I had this same issue and had to call teck and they had me do something like put a command in and bounce off their servers? or something and it worked well now I am with Cox same issue and their tech is worthless (sorry if you work for them) I need to know if anyone knows what to do to make it work again I am guessing its the same thing just with a different IP or command. On my Gateway desktop computer there are 45 Windows XP hotfix's in the programs list, can I remove them? I am going through my programs list, and I keep seeing these many different types of windows xp hotfixes. Does my computer need these to function or are they slowing it down? 21 of them are labeled Windows XP Hotfix - KB8*****, the last 5 digits are various. 24 are labeled Windows XP Hotfix (SP1), and the last one is Windows XP Hotfix (SP2). Is there a way that I can configure a Gateway Desktop Computer to it's original configuration? I have a friend who has a computer that is running extremely slow and we added memory to no avail, so I was thinking about putting it back to it's original configuration. Everything that needs to be saved is on a 8 Gig memory key. Why does my Gateway computer fan run loud and cycle? I have a gateway desktop computer that is 3 years old and the fan inside the unit runs all the time and cycles with using the computer The fan will run normal but once I go somewhere on the net, or open a folder on the desktop, the fan revs up super high for long periods of time. even sitting there on with no one using it the thing cycles from low fan to super high by itself. the fan is not broke, or making horrible sounds, it acts like a cars fan in front of the engine how it cycles on and off from high to low. thanks.
