Would this CPU work for my Gateway FX laptop??? This Laptop has mostly good but some bad reviews? I have been researching laptops and currently I have found one that is average priced and has GREAT features. 4 gigs of RAM memory. 320 gb of computer hardrive memory. It's also a dual processor. And about three hours of battery life. There are more features but these are the main ones. I have been doing research and looking at the reviews. I have found that there are three main problems with the system: 1) It leaves fingerprints everywhere 2) The keys are "flat" 3) The mousepad is supposedly defective. So, most all of the reviews said this. I am curious to know what exactly they mean by the keys are "flat" and it leaves fingerprints everywhere? I mean the fingerprints don't seem to be a defect it seems to be like not keeping it clean? Can I take any legal action against Gateway? I have a Gateway laptop computer. I bought the computer about a year and a half ago. Within a week of owning this laptop, the hard drive completely died. It was under warranty then, so I had no problem replacing it. However, my warranty was up in August of 08. Here we are six months later and my hard drive died AGAIN! This is ridiculous. Laptops are big ticket items that people can not afforf to replace. I have had this laptop about two years now and that fact that it has already stopped working twice really bothers me. Can I take legal action against this company? I have read reviews where this has happened to A LOT of people. I can't even get help from Gateway without having to pay. I should have backed up all of my information. I lost all of my picutres, all of my school work, and now about seven hundred bucks. I feel like I am entitled to some kind of reimbursement or help.

How good is Gateway NV7802U Notebook PC? I'm looking for good laptops and I noticed this one for like 599 at best buy. Most of the specs seem good, however I noticed the graphics are integrated and I know that is most often bad for gaming, but many reviews online say that it still runs games on high end settings good. Some of these include WoW, Aion, and counterstike though these games don't really require that much. Gateway M laptop series? Micro Express? I was looking at laptops under $1500 with atleast 2ghz cpu, atleast 2gb ram, and good graphics for my photo work when I came across the Gateway M XL laptop. The specs look great: same as the micro express specs except gateway is a well known company while micro express is not. It looks sleek and sexy but I'm getting mixed reviews about its performance. I'm still very unsure about which laptop to get after 2 months of research. Photography is my hobby so I have also looked at Macs. I thought the Macbook pro was cool except for the price, and as for the standard $1,000 macbook I wasn't impressed at all with its performance. Micro Express got the best score out of all laptops on PC World except it's a smaller company so I want to learn more about them. Im at a crossroads, i have a decent laptop, and need to decide weather to get a single monitor or multiple? I have turned off superfetch and changed vista to windows classic. i know its an onboard graphic card but w/ few programs running i figured it could borrow fromt he 4gigs of ram i have and it would run fine. any suggestions?

Need advice buying the Gateway NV5214u laptop. Is it the one for me? I'm considering buying the Gateway NV5214u laptop from my local BestBuy. It's $449.99 and has a lot of good reviews by top reviwers, but on the BestBuy site, a lot of reviews from customers say the screen blacks out and requires you to hard reboot it. I've looked at a couple stores and this really seems to fit what I want with the price I'm looking for, but I can't have this blacking-out screen problem. I called BestBuy and the employee said out of the 50 that were purchased there, only one was returned due to that problem. He also said the reviews were based on a whole from everyone in the US, so it's not such a huge problem in our town. He also said I could return or exchange it in 2 weeks if something happened. So I need advice. Should I buy this laptop? What other things do I need to know that BestBuy hasn't told me? And for people who have this laptop, is it worth it? I'll be using it for picture storage, gaming (I wont be playing the newest games, FYI), streaming videos to LiveStream, video editing with Sony Vegas, and browsing the web and Youtube. Thanks!

New Gateway Laptop's Screen goes blank after use? I have a new Gateway laptop that I bought about a month ago from Best Buy. It has had this issue of the screen going blank while in use. Sometimes it is like 5 minutes or so before it will do it, and sometimes I will be an hour or two into something and it does it. I have to power the computer completely off to fix it but it happens again and again and again. I uninstalled the ATI graphics driver and downloaded the updated driver from ATI's website for this computer and that seemed to fix it for a couple days but now it's doing the same thing again. I don't have any crazy software on it that would cause this - it is currently running Vista, but I should be receiving my copy of Windows 7 since this is a new computer soon. I am wondering if maybe that will resolve the issue? It seemed to happen only after I installed all the Windows updates when I first got the computer - not straight out of the box. I've reviewed all the Windows updates and I didn't see one that would cause this kind of a problem. I do not think it's the actual hardware of the computer, as my friend has the exact computer and bought it around the same time that I did and his is doing the exact same thing! Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how do i hook my gateway 5350 laptop to a tv? i have a gateway 5350 laptop and i read in a review that said it had a video out in the back so i could hook it up to a tv, i looked at mine and i found it, so i decided to hook it up to my tv. but when i did i did not see anything on the tv. the display remained on the laptop screen. is there some menu i need to pull up to get the second display or what, because i am really confused here. and don't say that i can't hook it up to a tv because i know i can(i just don't know how). please answer.

Which laptop is better? My desktop is starting to die, it's definitely hit its senior citizen years (about 8 years old). I want another computer, but I don't think I want a desktop because I want some mobility now because it sucks not being able to bring my computer places. So I want a laptop, but I want one that will be able to run games well, and the cheap laptops (4-500) don't really do that obviously. Gateway 200ARC laptop computer. Salvagable? Any one have one of these laptops or experience with this make & model, and if so, did you have problems with it? My son has one and the hard drive appears to have failed. I am estimating it will cost me about $125 - $150 to have the local puter shop repair it. Is it worth it? Laptop Painting questions? Okay, so in the past I had a friend custom paint his laptop and I am looking into doing the same. After doing massive research online I was eventually led to you guys by tons of posts of people doing this and posting progress on here. Tho, I have a few concerns about doing this that I want to address before I start. I should probably add that I've done some work to my laptop, so know very well how to take it apart and put it back together... luckily! So... a few questions about doing a custom paint job thumbs-up.gif My first concern is the biggest. My laptop is a Gateway P-6860FX. Nothing too special anymore, the warranty is almost up and the colors are pretty unattractive. However the case is a very glossy black plastic. Is it possible to paint over this or sand it down, or will I completely ruin it if I try? Are Gateway Laptops That bad? Are Gateway laptops really that bad, all the reviews i have read say they are bad machines anybody had any experience with them or know anything about it

So i recently bought a new laptop. A Gateway m-7315u? The box itself says it comes with 250gb hd. As you can see in the review online it comes with 250gb hd. So when i turned my laptop on it says a total of 111gb total. What could be the reason for me lacking 139 gb? It actually said 85gb free of 111gb. Could this be the software thats installed on it already? Am i able to get my gb's back? Thanks

Gateway M-153XL...Anyone? So I've started looking for a new laptop as mine's slowly on its way out. I know to stay away from HP's (know too many people who've had so many problems with HP's). Well recently I've come across the Gateway M-153XL and from the few (very few) reviews I've read about it, it seems to be a good computer. I know three people who owned the same exact model of a HP laptop and all three had various problems with it. My boyfriend continuously has problems with the motherboard on his laptop. Laptop Keyboard troubles?!? In October 2006, my mum and dad bought me a new laptop as my dad wanted the one I already had. It is a Gateway MX8716b and was bought from Tesco. It was exclusive to Tesco and the 17 inch screen and memory is exactly the right amount for me. However, I had the laptop for 7 months before it had to be sent to Germany under warranty as the 'O' key had broken off and would not reattach. It came back after 3 days and was ok but on Friday, the 'P' key came off and a very small piece of the retainer has broken off. I don't want to tell my dad that it is broken because I am worried about how he will react. I am fed up with the problems now and I am seriously considering just leaving the laptop and buying a PC. Will this wireless card workaround cause any problems? I recently purchased a Gateway laptop with a built-in high-speed Marvell wireless LAN. After reading customer reviews, it appears everyone is having issues with the wireless card not working due to a flaky driver and a possible BIOS bug. Someone posted a workaround and mine seems to be working now. I don't know a lot about computers, so I'm wondering if this is a safe and secure workaround, or do you foresee any problems I might have in the future? Here's the solution that was posted: 1) Go to Device Manager and click to properties of the Marvell Top Dog WLAN card. Hit uninstall (it will then uninstall and reinstall itself, thus actually activating/powering up the card). 2) Go back to properties, click the Power Management tab, uncheck the checkbox for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" 3) Restart computer, enter BIOS, look for a setting called Internal WLAN Power State. The default setting is Resume - change this setting to ON.

Buying a New Computer - Extra Insurance Policy? My six year old Gateway laptop is on the verge of dying and I'll be buying a new computer this week. Multimedia/Gaming Laptop Suggestions? Hello, community members. I've been extensively researching laptops for the past three weeks, but am having a difficult time narrowing down my list. I'm looking for a laptop that will be great for multimedia and will be at least sufficient to play less-demanding games. I do not want to spend more than $1,300. I definitely want a discrete/dedicated video card and high-quality sound. I've already ruled out some of the Dell models since they tend to have lower-quality sound. The HP Pavilion HDX and Gateway P-7811FX have gotten generally great reviews which surprised me since I always though that HP and Gateway produced lower-quality products. Ideally, I'd like a 17" screen although 15.4" would be sufficient. Do I really need full high definition resolution (1900x1200) unless I have a Blu-ray drive or play higher-end games? When else does full resolution come in handy? So far, I the Lenovo Y710 is at the top of my list, but since it's relatively new, there aren't good reviews of it yet. The lower model Y510 has gotten good reviews, but I'm not sure how that translates to the Y710. In addition the above, I'm also considering the gaming/multimedia models from Asus, Acer, and Alienware. Any advice, especially model suggestions, are greatly appreciated. Looking at buying a new laptop, help me narrow it down? Ok, I need a new laptop. The price range I’m looking for is as low as possible with the ability to perform a variety of tasks well while be extremely reliable. Mostly this is for school and general internet stuff but I also enjoy the occasional computer game and do the whole music and picture thing too. My biggest thing is I want something that will last me for a while with reliability and capability(I have a Compaq now that lasted me 4 years which I thought was pretty good) Anyway, I’ve found a few laptops that seem to fit the bill rather well. I think there are many people that want exactly what I’m looking for in a computer so hopefully any answers you give will help many people. I’ve been looking at bestbuy and these are several I am considering, Specifically my price range is around 500 dollars. This seems to be able to get me 3 GB Ram and 250 GB with a few machines and its what I’m shooting for. Gateway is slightly more powerful in the processor and video card but I’ve heard good things about Toshiba. Any thoughts or opinions would be awesome! Also if you know of something in the 500 dollar price range that you highly recomend let us know.

What gaming laptop is better? Hey, I'm currently comparing two gaming laptops to see which one I would like to purchase... Help!!! What I should I do? I just got a Gateway m-6843 notebook as a gift. From all the reviews, it seems like a good laptop. Very fast, 160 gb hard drive and 3 gig ram. It's equipped withe windows Vista and SP1. I'm not going to need to use it this school year though. I wont have access to wireless and there are computers to use for reports etc. Should I return it, get a gift card, and then the next schoolyear, buy another laptop. Is it with it to do that or should I keep the laptop? *is it WORTH it to do that

What do you guys think of the Fx Gateway laptop? My laptop is slow to load web pages and sometimes they wont load at all despite 900kps connection.? I have a laptop with a Intel Pro Wireless BG2200 built in and it connects to a Linksys W54G router, which uses a Belkin 4 Port VoIP ADSL router as a gateway. When I try and browse the web pages will often be slow to load or will suddenly become unavailable (just did it as I was trying to review this question and I had to start again). However when I use the company VPN from the same location and with the same hardware I don't have those problems. Also, the other desktops that connect wired or wirelessly to the same hardware do not have this problem. My feeling is that it is DNS related but I can't set a static DNS because I am always on the move and hook up to multiple access points around town.

Using Laptop Screen as a Console Gaming screen...? So I have a Gateway P-6831 and due to college, I want to use my laptop screen in order to play games without buying an extra LCD screen. So, I would like to hook my PS2 and PS3 to my laptop as a screen. I've heard of Gamebridges and their quality due to their lack of lag (based on reviews, please correct if I'm mistaken), but it's discontinued and a year old. So I was wondering if there are any other solutions that might be better than the gamebridge solution. Thanks for your input.

Which laptop is the better deal? Gateway MT6452 for $700 or MT6821 for $900? the spec differences I'm concerned with are: system bus - 533MHz (6821) vs "up to 1600MHz" (6452) L2 cache - 2M (6821) vs 1M (6452) hard drive type - SATA (6821) vs Parallel ATA (6452) RAM - 2G (6821) vs 1G (6452) - looks like I can upgrade to 2G later for about $130...) I've read reviews of both the AMD and Intel processors but still can't make up my mind - any advice? Thanks!!
