Do all Gateway NV50 series laptops have the same plastic casing? I'm looking for a broken laptop so that I can take off the plastic casing and put my own parts in it. I hate all of the parts from my old Gateway NV53a laptop, and want to transfer them to a better laptop with better casing. I can't find my exact model, but I have found other Gateway NV series laptops that people are selling. They were broken and cost less than 100 dollars. Would my parts fit them?
How to get past a user password on a Gateway M-Series Laptop....recently purchased? OK, I already asked once, but didn't have enough info. Just bought it at a pawn shop today. Gateway M Series Laptop won't boot past the Gateway Icon? I have a Gateway M Series Laptop (unsure of exact model) and just the other day it failed to shut down properly, so i held the power button and it cut off. When i power it back on, the Gateway Icon comes on with the F-2 or F-10 options at the bottom, and it just sits at the Microsoft screen with the scrolling yellow bars. What could the problem possibly be?
where can i find a gateway laptop m-series cpu fan and heatsink? My fan has broken and I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone know an online parts store where that might have it. It's a Gateway M Series, Model SA6. Please help I miss my computer!
My M-series Gateway laptop is getting extremely hot. Any idea of why? Maybe it just needs a break? I have the fan uncovered so it can cool itself but when i have the laptop plugged in and am using it- it gets extremely hot and I'm wondering how hot is too hot and is this normal? I have a gateway m-series laptop and the screen is black? I can see the screen barely if I turn it into the light, I have used the function key to brighten it, but that doesn't work. The computer is fine, its just the dog gone screen is black, please help!!!

I have a Gateway 7342u M series laptop, it wouldn't connect to wifi and now I accidentaely deleted the driver? It wouldn't connect to wifi so I went ahead and deleted the driver so i can reinstall it and hopefully it would've resolved my wireless problem, however, now the driver's completely erased from my stsem cause I checked the "erase from computer" without realizing it meant literally. Everytime I put "scan for hardware changes" it looks for the software but unfortunately it's not there anymore, what can i do at thi spoint?

My Gateway M series laptop problem...? My Gateway M series laptop's screen was black but the lights where still on. I tried to turn it off and back on but nothing happened. Gateway M laptop series? Micro Express? I was looking at laptops under $1500 with atleast 2ghz cpu, atleast 2gb ram, and good graphics for my photo work when I came across the Gateway M XL laptop. The specs look great: same as the micro express specs except gateway is a well known company while micro express is not. It looks sleek and sexy but I'm getting mixed reviews about its performance. I'm still very unsure about which laptop to get after 2 months of research. Photography is my hobby so I have also looked at Macs. I thought the Macbook pro was cool except for the price, and as for the standard $1,000 macbook I wasn't impressed at all with its performance. Micro Express got the best score out of all laptops on PC World except it's a smaller company so I want to learn more about them. Where to find XP drivers for my gateway M-Series laptop.? Hey guys having a big prob vista is just slowwww and my laptop is an AMD turion 2.0 ghz dual core with 2gb ram and 128mb Ati graphics still doesn't seem fast enough for visat but for XP it be blazing fast. Problem is when I install XP nothing and I mean nothing works no internet, no wireless, no 1280x800 resolution and not even any sound. I tried some drivers with no luck can anyone help? Is a hard drive from the gateway M series laptop compatible with the 6000 series laptop? ? Is a hard drive from the gateway m series compatible with the hard drive for a 6000 series? Is the screen from the m series compatible with the screen from the 6000 series (both are the same measurements)? These are 2 different questions? One about the hardrive. The other is about the screen/display one computer has a cracked screen and I wanted to switch them out. One has a bad hard drive and I wanted to switch that out too. I got this brand new M-series Gateway laptop from radio shack. I can't get in it since there's a password.? I tried typing in every possible password that i could find. The hint was "us" but i still can't figure it out. I'm asking anyone who may have a laptop that asked for a password when they first turned it on. No, there was no type of info containing my password because i searched the entire box. I really need help. What could this password be or how can i get into my computer. I heard i need a recovery disk but i don't see what that has to do with anything. Please help me out.
Hp pavilion dv6000 vs Gateway M- series? ok so i have a hp pavilion dv6000 series and its hp pavilion dv6426us laptop and my cousin has a gateway m-series laptop but i dont know what kind so which is better the hp or gateway.
gateway m-series not charging, not recognizing its plugged in? My Gateway M-Series laptop (less than 2 years old) is not taking a charge. Its not registering that its plugged in. I have switched outlets and such, and still the laptop is not saying that it is even plugged in and not charging. I took it to best buy and they told me to buy a new battery, or else it was the motherboard and I should buy a new computer, but this doesn't make sense to me. Would a bad battery really block the computer from being able to accept another power source? It makes more sense to me that it would just be the connection is bad, but I don't know much about computers. At Best Buy, they used another power cord of theirs to see if it would work, but it wasn't exactly the same as mine. Also, this may or may not be related- A few days ago, I had a problem with the screen not coming on even though the power was on. I shut down my computer because the USB ports on one side weren't working, and after that, we couldn't get the screen to come on for a while. We found something online called the "tic tac toe" or something, and finally got the monitor to come on. That was maybe 4 days ago. What do you think is the best course of action for getting my laptop to power up and realize its plugged in? thanks. i did try taking the battery out and just having it plugged in to the power source, but with no luck
Gateway laptops screen goes blank.? i have a Gateway M-Series laptop... && for some reason when i close the screen the screen goes black and i have to restart my computer... does anyone know how to fix this? my computer doesn't turn off, it just goes blank... :( like the computers still running.
Gateway (M-Series) Won't boot up...again, please help!? I have a Gateway M-Series laptop and a few months ago it started to go into "comas." After a while of the computer being in "sleep" mode or just on, it would shut down. I would try to start it up, but it won't boot up. Several times, I had to wait until the next day for it to work. It has not been working for several days now. The computer performance is otherwise excellent. It is not the battery or the outlet/charger. I heard that it may be some kind of "hibernation glitch" or something. I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty. So if someone can at least give me some general diagnostics, it would be appreciated. Thanks! I have also tried to run the laptop with the A/C only. If it overheats, would the problem I describe occur?
Gateway M series Laptop Fan Error? I noticed yesterday the laptop was warmer than normal and that the fan wasn't spinning. When I restarted it, it got a fan error. I took out the battery and am running it on the ac cord and it works fine. Fan runs without the battery fine but it won't run at all when its inserted. Any ideas? It's about 3 years old and completely out of warranty so I can't go that route.
the DVD drive on my gateway m-series laptop just disappeared from the my computer listing. Help please!? The drive used to work fine, but it just disappeared one day. Its not listed in device manager either, and when i go to the startup menu, it says no optical drive. I did not install any new drivers, but i was trying to install a borrowed copy of photoshop CS2

Can you install a 2nd internal sound card in a Gateway M-Series laptop if the original is on the motherboard? Laptop was plugged into an old mixer sound system via the headphone jack and although there was no big shock or anything, just a big hum after the connection was made, it blew our soundcard, even though everything is up to 100 with nothing muted and so on. We reinstalled drivers and troubleshooted to kingdom come but then realized the soundcard was shot. Original one is on the motherboard, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's a slot for a second internal one on the laptop and how to do it. Most informative answer gets best.
I have a Gateway laptop(M series) & my computer screen has been turned completely upside down!? My toddler got a hold of it. I have no idea what he did and can't remember how to change my monitor view back to normal. Everything still looks exactly the same, it's just upside down. So, the only way I can really view it is if I turn my laptop upside down as well. Please help!

Have an older Gateway laptop (M Series) and a hinge has broken from the base. Help? I'll admit, I'm not the most tech savvy person; every bit of help is very much appreciated. As I said earlier, my Gateway laptop is in need of repair. The left hinge connecting the screen to the keyboard has broken from the base, and from the looks of it, I need a new frame... or something.... The hinge and base are plastic and looked to be "melted" together as one before it was broken. (I do sincerely apologize if my description is lacking. I'm not sure what else to say or how else to describe it.) Is it possible to replace the hinge and bottom/back frame area? Where would I purchase these items (links, please, if possible)? Or what would you suggest I do instead? To be exact, it is a Gateway M460 laptop.

If my gateway MX series laptop says I have 64 MB of video memory, how do I use it all? I'm trying to install a game that says I need at least 63 mb of video memory. I have 64 mb so when I overwrite the installation, it trys to startup but then the game shuts down completely not showing me anything. So I'm not sure what to do. I would like to know what's taking up all of my video memory and what I can do to get this game to install correctly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Black Screen on my Gateway M-1624 Laptop? I have a Gateway M-Series Laptop, that worked great up till one day I powerd it up and had no video. I'm certain I hear the insides working when booted up, but no video. I was thinking maybe it was the LCD Inverter, but not sure. I hooked up a regular Monitor to it, but nor did that work. $500 Gateway NV series laptop vs $500 HP laptop? & Deleting Bloatware? I'm considering both of these laptops for college. I'm really unsure about which to pick because I don't trust the Gateway brand like HP but the HP has slightly less RAM (3G). But in all other specs they're pretty similar. Also, I would like to know whether or not it's worth paying bestbuy $30 or $40 to delete all the bloatware on whatever computer I end up getting. I've done some research and everyone seems to have a different opinion on this subject...so...i guess you can state yours below! thanks!
Gateway NV Series ms2273 flashing volume lights.? I'm going nuts over here. S i have a Gateway NV Series laptop. Has been working perfectly for months. I closed it, went to the post office and came back and urned it back on. The volume controls at the top of the keyboard (their like touch sensitive, not buttons really) re flashing wildly like someone is going back and forth between the two. The mute and touch pad lights are both off and cannot be turned back on. I have found nothing on the internet about this. All the other ouch buttons at the top are working just fine. Numpad subscript* keys don't work (gateway laptop)? I have a Gateway NV series laptop. It has a right side numpad with numbers and subscript? (i'm not sure what they are called) keys such as the home or end key underneath the numbers. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get them to work. The function key doesn't do anything to them. ive tried numlock and all that, can someone tell me how to get them to work properly? And yes the light comes on when i press the numlock key :)
Why is the power cord not charging my Gateway Notebook? I just purchased a brand new battery and ac adapter power cord for my Gateway M-Series laptop from Gateway.com. With the new parts, the computer turns on and loads, but it only stays on for about 5 minutes before shutting off again. The battery icon on the lower right side of the screen does not show the "charging" icon while the power cord is plugged into it. Could it be something inside of the laptop, like the connection between the power cord and the battery? Has anyone else ever had an issue with this and how did you solve it? Thanks

i own a gateway laptop with vista. i think i installed an older version cause my screens messed up? i used my brothers recovery cd, we both have the same type of laptop but a different model. we both have M series gateway laptops with vista home premium installed. like i said my brother says he remembers his laptop being at a crappy resolution at first and a windows update fixed it, i am gonna install the chipset family driver thing to replace the vga one. i am asking this now cause installing 50 updates takes a while and i do need all the help i can get, if i cannot use my computer during the update process i can use my wii internet to check yahoo answers. just remember: i do not have the money or time to bring it to a professional. one more question, how can i chat with microsoft support for free? i have done it before. i tried searching for it but i stumbled upon a non free support thing on the microsoft site, 60 bucks... if it helps its the screen where you enter your personal info and it tells you what order line you are in. i am almost positive that it was not a scam web site.
No internet connectivity on Gateway M Series laptop? The model is M-1617. It's running Windows Vista Home Premium. All the programs works fine, it's primarily used for internet browsing and gaming (IE: Jewel Quest, Jungle Quest, Gold Miner). For those who know Vistas layout, the two screens in the taskbar that represent internet connectivity have a red X on them. Before I go any further I want to say that our router is working perfectly fine. It will not recognize our router nor the router my brother and I use which is his friends since it has a faster upload/download speed. tl;dr Computer won't recognize open networks regardless of operating perfectly fine, computer and routers. Gateway P series (FX) Laptop VS. Toshiba x205 and Toshiba qosmio.? I'm looking for a good gaming laptop. My friends have Toshiba's out the ying yang. And I really love Toshiba. But I just stumbled across the Gateway P series. I'm looking for a good mobile gaming Toppy. But I can't choose. I've reviewed alot on youtube and Gateway can handle Crysis on High very well, but I've heard some distinct rumors that it over heats. Hmmm. My M series Gateway Laptop seems to have gotten a virus or trojan , and wil not allow me to get into my restor? It keeps on blocking my commands to open or start restore, clean computer or any file exe. commands
High pitched sound coming from laptop (Gateway) speakers? It's an annoying whine. I can't stand it. It's constantly on when the computer is idle, or I am not doing anything. For example, if I am reading a webpage, it's making the noise. But as soon as I scroll the page (with the touchpad OR with the arrow keys) it will go away as I scroll, but then start again, as though it's CPU usage or something as things load. It is definitely coming from the speakers, because I hear it playing through headphones if I plug them in. I disabled all recording devices (microphones), and muted the speakers, and it's still playing the noise. The interesting thing is if I plug headphones in and place them far away, I hear the sound (much quieter) from within the computer, and it disappears while things load in the same exact way. Must be interference, but how to stop it? It's the most annoying thing on the planet when I'm trying to read things. It's an M-series Gateway laptop, about two and a half years old. Also, I didn't buy it. I'd NEVER buy a Gateway laptop. Just sayin' =) this is why Answer #1, you're freaking retarded. I just said I DIDN'T BUY IT, because if I had, I certainly wouldn't have bought a piece of crap like this. If you're the only answer, I'll pick "no best answer". Screw the points.
My laptop will not charge unless I push in the cord very hard? I have a Gateway M-Series laptop and it wont stay on charge unless i hold the cord in very hard. Is there anything I can do to fix it where I don't have to push in hard for it to charge?

Question about Gateway charger? So the charger for my m-series Gateway laptop broke...again. Thus, I need a charger...again. The first time it broke, it was under warranty, so I think my dad just called Gateway directly and they sent me one. Why did my hard drive shrink in capacity? I bought a gateway M-series laptop last year with 250gb hard drive. everybody knows its not actually "250" but it was 230gb. up until a few months ago, my hard drive only has 111gb. i have C: 1.80gb free off 111gb and Local Disk D: 111gb free of 111gb i do not have enough space and its extremely frustrating.
what happens if i improperly shut down my vista gateway laptop? i want to know the risks, it is an M series laptop made in mid to late 2007, sometimes it isnt properly shut down cause im angry sometimes its cause of a power failure, see, i unplug my battery when its plugged into the wall at home so i can conserve battery life and it seems to work, i would say on average i have about 3 disruptive shutdowns in a period of 10 days. and when my laptop was getting repaired i noticed 2 disruptive shutdowns. so on that basis alone i assume it wont do much damage answe number 11 reminded me to ask where the hard disk is located cause sometimes i punch the left side of my laptop and i think the screen goes white for a millisecond
How do I activate the webcam on a new T series Gateway laptop? It activates upon sign on with Yahoo messenger but how do i get it to turn on from the desktop? Gateway T Series Laptop Webcam saying, "No Preview" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? I have a T Series Gateway laptop. The builtin webcam was working just fine and now, when I open it, the window says "No Preview" When I try to open it in yahoo messenger it just shows a dark window. Have I lost a driver? How to open the case of a Gateway M-Series notebook computer? I need to replace the charging port, or possibly repair it. I have removed all the screws and taking out everything that looked like it needed to be taken out. I have a Gateway T-series Laptop that continually Freezes? Have a Gateway T-Series Laptop with Vista Home Premium on it that continually freezes... no matter what I am doing (browse internet, working in programs, or just downloading pics from phone). I have ran all programs that I can possible find and trust and have found nothing wrong with the computer program and internal wise. Which leads me to think that its overheating or the power supply is causing this too? I am really at a loss and the fact that I can do much without freezing is really irritating to the point of getting something new? Anyone with this computer have the same issue???
Gateway MD73 series Laptop [Fn] key symbol meanings? Recently got this laptop (Gateway MD7336u) and want to know what each of the [Fn] keys are for and what they do. Here is a list and description of the ones I don't know. F1-Half lit light bulb with light coming out of the unlit side. F2-Pretty sure this is a WiFi antenna. F3-Crescent Moon. F4-Two rectangles separated by a /, the left one has an outline. F6-One symbol looks like a sideways V pressed against a B that is two triangles. F8-Sun with half solid half hollow with a - on hollow side and + on solid side. Up arrow- Solid sun Down arrow- Empty sun I know what Break on pause key is and PrtSc on Insert is print screen but on the delete button it say SysRq and don't know what that one is. Can you tell me the meanings to these symbols? I know I have to use the [Fn] key to use them but I don't know what they are for.

I have an old gateway laptop (1150 series from the year 2000).I upgraded the RAMspace to 198 mb.is this good? It came with 64mb of RAM and can only reconize 198 so i bout the maxmimum upgrade. Is this enough RAM to run internet, download pictures, music, ect...?

I have a Gateway P series laptop. Is there a way to pull up the restore menu without disk or windows screen? I get the gateway screen, then the blue screen and it says configuring updates, then it says shutting down. This is as far as I can go, but if there were a way that I could hit a button and pull up the restore menu, I could restore it a few days back and be fine I think. I do not have the orginal disk and since I can not get to the windows screen I can not go that route to pull up the restore menu. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? I was hoping f8 or some combination of buttons would work, but nothing so far except the boot menu.

Gateway 600yg2 Laptop 600 series chipset issues? I have a Gateway 600YG2 Laptop with the following specs: 600 series chipset ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 onboard graphics 2.0g Intel Pentium 4 Processor 1g DDR RAM 40g Maxtor integrated HD When I use the notebook, the application windows, when moved, are choppy. I already know that this can be fixed when downloading the proper drivers, which just finished downloading. But, the computer runs much slower than ever before, and I just reformatted everything, and reinstalled XP w/SP2 (which is what it had before). Can anyone shed some light on why this is running so slowly? Are there some drivers I might need to update?

Acer Aspire or Gateway M-Series? I am looking for a decent laptop. I have seen good reviews of Acer but havent heard that good about Gateway. I am looking into Acer Aspire 5100-3500 and Gateway M-6823. Over all Gateway seems to better equipped with better processor and all and it looks good too as compare to Acer. HELP! I restored my Gateway Laptop w/ the restore cd now no wireless/sound/..drivers..? I restored my Gateway mx6000 series laptop with the restore cd(destuctive, full restore)...now there is no sound, wireless, and probably no video as well but I haven't tried yet..What the heck, do I have to find all of these drivers and install them all 1 by 1? I thought that was what the restore cd was for? I even restored again to make sure, and the same problem!
Gateway serial or model number needed for driver problem? I purchased a Gateway laptop from Best Buy about 2 years ago. The system came pre-loaded with Microsoft Vista. I have been using Vista the last 2 years and finally got fed up with it. I decided to purchase XP and install on my Gateway. The installation went good and my laptop is running great the problem is that the video driver included w/ XP will not 1024 x 768. My sound does not work and my built in wireless connection does not work. I tried to call Gateway yesterday and they asked for my serial number. When I looked on the bottom of the laptop the white sticker where it was supposed to be has completely faded off and cannot be read. The customer service girl then hung up on me. I found Gateway's driver download page but I do not know the model or the serial number for my machine. I know that it is a t-series but there are over 20 t-series Gateway laptops. I am concerned that I will not be able to fix the driver issues. Here is my question... Is there any other place to locate the serial number or model number? I have already thrown away my box and the restore disk that came with the computer is buried in storage. I think I can get the drivers with the model number but I cannot locate the model number either. Is there any way to find the model number or serial number once it has worn of the bottom of the computer? Any where I can go in windows to locate the name of the components I need the drivers for? Asus M50 series laptop any good. Right now I own a gateway tablet pc that is just awefull, always overheats? I need to purchase a new laptop to replace a piece of junk gateway which overheats all the time. How is Asus M50 series is relation to noise and heat? Anyone own one? Power Button Problems, with my Gateway M305 series? I'm having an issue with my power on/off button on my laptop. I have to push down on the button VERY hard on both sides of the button a few times, to get my laptop to turn on, other than that it boots up fine and runs great. Laptop powers down after trying RAM upgrade? I tried to add a 1gb stick of pc-3200 DDR2 to my gateway M-Series laptop. Now the computer powers down the moment I get to the POST screen. I'm unable to even boot into the BIOS, even when just using the original RAM. Any suggestions besides sending it back? (No warranty) I've swapped out RAM hundreds of times, and this is the first time this has ever happened.

Gateway Laptop Wifi Not working? Somehow my laptop crashed and I had to reinstall Windows Vista on my laptop with the CD that came with it. However, when it was done, I tried connecting to my Wireless router. Now my laptop won't read any wireless signals. I don't know what I did wrong when I was installing Windows. All I did was put the CD in and left it alone to install. I did, however, was confused at which drive to format and install, either the C or D, but I read it should be the bigger one, which was C and D was only a 10 Gb small recovery drive. But that was all. I don't think anything went wrong. But now I can't go online. I can't even scan my neighbor's internet. PLEASE HELP!! Writing this at the library. Gateway P series Vs Asus M50? I'm looking to buy a new laptop and am considering the P-172S FX and an Asus M50 off Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220279). I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do want something that will handle games respectably for the next 2 years or so, run Solidworks and Maya like a champ, and handle heavy scientific computing. I prefer the 15in size of the M50 and like it's specs for $1350, but am concerned about the performance of the 9500M GS. For about the same price, the Gateway has the 8800M GTS, which is awesome, but only a 2 Ghz dual core and a 17in screen at the same resolution as the M50's 15in. If the screen and processor on the Gateway were moderately better at it's price, it'd win, but it's come down to a standoff between a seemingly more well rounded system vs a solid system with a great graphics card. Looking for suggestions on which to get. What considerations do you think are most important? Any other systems I should look at under 1500? Thanks!
