What can I expect from Gateway tech support after purchase of new computer? Heard bad reports.? I'm thinking of buying a new Gateway desktop computer but have gotten bad reports on tech support after the sale. Anyone with any advice?

Driver support? gateway computer dowgrading to xp? okay so jus recently i bought another HDD. i wanted to dual boot xp on my old drive. but when i installed it there was question marks in the device manager concerning my Ethernet controller, pci device (2), SMBUS controller and video controller. My motherboard came with a gateway computer and i believe the drivers are on the windows vista cd that came with it. i also visited the gateway website looking for drivers for my motherboard, but it only supports vista. Computer Power Supply Support for Gateway PC Desktop? I just purchased this Gateway computer. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113079 Now my question is that I realize that it came with a 300 watt power supply. I have several PCI slots to add extra cards, however if I wanted to add a higher end video card and also TV Tuner card, will this power supply be enough to handle these add ons? Customer service support for Gateway computers? Please read my question, “What has happened to Gateway products and support? I noticed others were unhappy with Gateway support and products. Any others? You would think for the price you pay the service would be better. I can’t deal with being on the telephone or on –line for hours just to reach customer service or technical support. I can’t deal with people I can not even understand. I don’t want a Tech who tells me to mail in my laptop or desktop as a means of resolving technical issues. I bought my Gateway notebook computer from Best Buy, does anyone know where i can find the serial number? I purchased my computer about 3 years ago from Best Buy, the sticker on the bottom has rubbed off and I've tried several computer programs such as Belarc, Everest, etc to try to obtain my serial number and none of them work. My model is MT6451. Gateway customer service won't help me without my serial #. On a side note: the reason I need Gateway support is b/c my computer keeps giving me an error that my version of Windows Vista is not genuine (when i bought the computer, it already had Vista pre-installed on it). I've tried everything from trying to activate Vista, doing a system restore, and nothing is resolving the issue. I don't want my computer to shut down on me. System recovery with no disc just link - gateway computer mx6421 windows xp? i was told i could follow this link http://support.gateway.com/s/SOFTWARE/Medialess/MLXPH2/MLXPH2su9.shtml in order to preform a system recovery without the disc since I never received one. However after I hit F11 it asks me to insert a disc. The ONLY disc I did receive says" Gateway Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Operating System Disc" however once I place that disc in it only reaches 18% and either the computer will shut down uexpectingly or it says certain files need to be aborted or retried. Upon clicking retry I get the same message. When I click abort I am given an option to either start from all over again (which I have done SEVERAL times) or restart (which restarts the computer). I do not know what I can do to fix this. I can not afford to pay gateway or geek squad $200. I was told I have a virus/spyware/malware or something like that on my computer and I've down scans on the drivers, virus scans, system restore and although they say it's gone it is not. Microsoft has assisted me however they are lost as well. (They told me to hit f10 and pick option 2 but I do not have an option 2) just 1, 3, 4 My computer keeps shutting down and gives me a blue screen with white writing I can not read. I would like to preform a system recovery since I have everything backed up. I just want my computer back. =( I've bee dealing with this for over a week and really need some help and hope please =(

I recently had to reboot my Gateway MX6436 laptop computer, now the modem driver isn't working.? My computer won't recognize the modem driver! I've done some research and lots of people have had this issue. I managed to fix the sound driver (it wasn't working either), but the modem is undetectable! Has anyone else had this issue? My Gateway desktop computer will no longer turn on.? My family's desktop computer is a Gateway model number GM5688E. We've had it for about four years, it had been working fine up until yesterday, but today the computer will not turn on. No light goes on, no fans power up, no boot-up, nothing. Everything else plugged into the power strip it's plugged into (our wireless router, printer, and monitor) all turn on and work, I've tried plugging it in different plugs and switching out the power strips, it's not the problem. Checked the AC plug, it's fine. My father even tested the voltage on it and it still outputs electricity. It's not the inside of the computer since it's free of dust and all wires are connected and look fine. I tried calling the Gateway Customer Support phone number located on the tower, but humorously I get some kind of shopping network instead. Tried going to the Gateway website, and tried inputting the serial number for the system but the website wouldn't recognize it (it's 13 alphanumeric digits and they wanted a 22 digit code), so at this point I'm not really sure what to try to do, as I'm not really tech-savvy.

Gateway Profile 3 Memory Upgrade? one of my relatives has a Gateway Profile 3 computer that he is trying to put some additional memory in. http://support.gateway.com/support/manlib/Profile/Profile3/8508183/8508183.htm He got one 512MB PC133 SDRAM but it is only showing 256MB available. he can live without the other 256MB if there is a hardware limitation of only 256MB per slot. The main thing, though, is he gets a warning/error when he boots about the system memory running at 100MHz and the physical ram being 133MHz (I don't have the exact error text). The computer still boots and works ok, but this is a keyboard response that needs taken every time he boots. Does anyone know how we can remove this message, since from the specs and support at Gateway we should be able to use PC133 in the computer? Gateway support hasn't been much help. I think it is AMI Bios version 2.01a

Gateway GT4016 computer not starting and needs a system board.? I was in contact with Gateway and they said that I needed to purchase a KTBC51G system board. I did. When I went to replace the part, KTBC51G LF was on the system board. I am assuming these are two different system boards but needed to know from an expert (not gateway support-they know nothing!). Gateway computers are proprietary? Help? I am taking a computer support class this year in high school and the teacher recently told us that the Gateway computers that we will set up are proprietary. My Gateway does not have an OS installed on it. The teacher has the Gateway OS discs, but they are windows xp. I was wondering if I can install any other OS on it. I need help with my Gateway computer.....it is giving me problems.....everytime I save something on a disk.... Every time I save something on a disk....the disk drive will not open so I can take the disk out. In order for me to openi it I have to restart my computer. Then it will let me take it out. (wierd) Also...my card reader on the front of my computer will not read cards anymore...and the indicator light that lets you know there is a memory card inserted correctly, stays on at all times..even if a card is not in it. Computer Dual Boot Driver Issue? How do I open my stuck CD drive on my computer? Help! My computer is only 2 weeks old and the cd drive is stuck. I called Gateway technical support and they said to stick a paper clip into the hole by the release button. I tried that several times but nothing happens. When I press the eject button, my computer makes this noise like its TRYING to open, but it can't. !! GATEWAY TECH SUPPORT WON'T HELP ME!, I need the sound driver for a Gateway Laptop P-6822 for XP. Sigmatel I tried Intel's, Gateway's, everybody's drivers, none of them will install on my P-6822. I it is not a very common model at this point, but I am really dissapointed about Gateway's Tech Support, first they treated me like a thief because the serial number on my NEW laptop didn't show up on their database, and second, because the Laptop came up with that slow Windows Vista OS, which does'nt run smooth like XP not even in my 1.5ghz Core2Duo 2Gb Ram laptop...it takes like 5 minutoes just to load the startup screen!!! Sound driver deletes itself when I reboot my computer - help? I recently purchased a Gateway Solo 9500 notebook computer from a sale at a local university. I bought it without an operating system, so I had a good friend and computer expert install one for me. Everything was working great until I realized there was no sound. I used a gateway service to find the correct driver for my system, ESS Allegro, and downloaded it. It worked fine, but I noticed that the driver deletes itself every time I reboot the computer. Why is this happening? Because of the way the university originally bought the computer, Gateway tech support cannot assist me and all my computer-expert friends are totally stumped. I would appreciate your help! How much, roughly, would it cost for me to replace the board if that happens to be the issue?

Trying to load Bios onto Gateway? I found this computer with no hard drive or recovery discs. So I put a harddrive in it and found the bios....I keep getting an error every time I try booting it from the bios disc iI made from the site. Keep in mind that this is my first time doing this. Im trying to learn by tinkering with it. Keep in mind that I only have the BIOS on the boot disc. Is there something Im missing? Gateway computer problem??? Ok so im on the internet. same old same old and then my monitor screen inlarged itself. everything on the screen was double its size even the mouse. So then i tried moving the mouse assumeing it froze or something. But then while i was moving the mouse the screen turned into many pixles every. there were like little colorful squares every. so then i held down the power button so it would shut off automatically. now whenever i turn it on the monitor always says no signal found. the keybord and mouse doesnt work either even though the wires are all pluged in. And i cant tell if there is a problem with the hardrive becuase nothing shows up on the monitor. Im using a school computer right know to do this. Any ideas. How do i find the radio control switch for a gateway laptop? I have a gateway laptop model number MX6128 and it is not letting me connect to internet. When I try it tells me that the radio is disabled, that I need to enable the radio control switch. Since my transfer from my Gateway computer to my new Dell, I've lost the ability to send E-mail from Outlook E I can receive messages via Outlook Express, but I can not send or forward. I am trying to format an older gateway computer, gateway is no longer supporting my PC... where are drivers!? How can I fix this Computer issue? OK...Windows XP OS... I am trying to reformat becuse the computer will not boot it goes to the Blue Screen (http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h112/flyers7565/IMG_0177.jpg)(BSOD)I am not concerned about any data back up at all. When inserting the windows XP disk to reformat it gets to the very beginging stages (2 mins) and won't go any further the status at the bottom says - "Examining desktop environment". I am able to run Knoppix (Linux) and access the hard drive so i dont belive the HD is the issue. Its a Gateway laptop (http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/450SX4/3501271nv.shtml). This computer ONLY has a CD drive. Any help or programs (that boot from cd) to fix this issue would be greatly appericated.

i have a old gateway and it suddenly stopped working everytime i turned it on a beep comes on an it 1-3-3-1. I went into gateway support and the code means: "autosize dram system bios stops execution here if the bios does not detect any usable memory dimms" i really want to fis my computer. what can i do to get it fix ... opinions please the monitor won't turn on or display anything.alredy clean the memory slots with air and stills doesn't work

Will The Sims 2 and 4-6 of the expansion packs be supported by my computer? My computer is a Gateway laptop with AMD Turion 64 x2. Model # M-1617. It has: -1.9GHz Processor speed. -2GB RAM -250GB Hard drive. -ATI Radeon x1270 Graphics Card I would appreciate if people who own this computer could tell me how their Sims 2 games and expansions work on it as well.
