Which motherboard is better? dimension 3000 or BioStar P4M900-M4? I am fixing my friends pc. It has the "blue screen of death". I found out that the problem was the motherboard, but now im doing some research on what would be better. I would like to get your feedback on what would be the best choice. I know that both motherboards will work but I am also trying to save them some money. Please give me your thoughts.

Problems with a biostar motherboard!!? I don't remember the model of the motherboard, but this is the problem: when I'm trying to transfer information from a hard disk to another one the machine gets jammed or frozen. I did the same thing on another computer and there was no problem..the computer works fine with a maxtor sata hard disk, but if I try to exchange info between the disk, it gets frozen a friend told me to check the cpu configuration, maybe there is the problem..you know, I don't like biostar at all. I hope you can give me a hand.
Biostar Motherboard wont start with ram in one of the sockets. Please help? I had the biostar mcp6p-m2, which has 2 ram slots, installed in my computer and the other day it stopped starting. I narrowed it down to the RAM slots (via the beep codes). I took both sticks out and found that it would pass the POST with either stick of ram in one slot, and not with either stick in the other. So after trying a couple of solutions (blowing air into the slot to check for fluff etc) after a couple of suggestions from yahoo answers, still no success so I bought a new motherboard, exactly the same make and model, but its turned out to be the mcp6p-m2+. So I put the new motherboard in anyway with both sticks of ram and have the same problem! Again it will start with either stick in one slot and not with either stick in the second. Further to that, the on board usb ports dont work. Aside from returning the board, any ideas on the RAM issue? Also any chance anyone has resolved the usb issue? I did have the same usb issue with the 1st MCp6P board I had (the newly installed one is my 3rd!) Although more research I do more it seems to be a common occurence in Biostar boards. Alan have tried uninstalling - reinstalling usb drivers. Have also tried disabling - re-enabling them in the bios. Have also tried changing the jumper positions.

What should I do to return a motherboard without the package? I bought a combo deal from Newegg.com for a Biostar Motherboard and a 2.5 AMD Quadcore. Unfortunately, I lost the retail package, but I still retain the spare wires, the box that it was shipped in, manual, ie. everything except the flimsy retail box. Since Newegg is online only, do you think I can convince them to accept my return? If not, could I say I have the box and ship it in a standard box without reprimations?

Hitachi 250 GB SATA Hard Drive detects only 137 GB in Biostar P4M80-M4? I'm trying to install a 250 GB Hitachi Sata Hard Drive to my P4M80-M4 Biostar Motherboard and everthing goes smoothly, but the only thing is that in the BIOS setup it detects that is a 250 GB Hard Drive but when I'm about to install Windows XP Professional it only gives me like 137 GB's. What should I do, should I update the BIOS with a specific SATA driver or something? I have Windows XP Service Pack 2, I updated the BIOS and the problem persists. The BIOS recognizes the 250 GB but Windows does not, I read that once the BIOS recognizes the drive and I have at least Windows XP Service Pack 1a the problem would be gone. What should I do differently or what should I do now, what is the problem?
CPUs and G-Cards for BIOSTAR P4M900 M4 Motherboard? Hi. My computer currently sucks... A lot... Here are my specs: CPU:2.57ghz RAM:1GB (256 is taken from TurboCache of my GFXCard) GFXCard: Nvidia GeForce 6200 (512 MB with TurboCache) Motherboard: BIOSTAR P4M900 M4 Motherboard I want to upgrade it enough to where I will be able to play PS2 games on my PC via Emulator. I know that I will need at least a dual-core processor and a decent GFXCard. So which fairly cheap ones do you guys recommend that will work with my motherboard? Keep in mind, I would still like enough power for modern video games to work as well. Also what tempature should my harddrive usually run at? Lately I have been paranoid it is going to die soon. I have had it for about 4 years. It usually runs at about 30 degrees C... Sometimes a bit over...
Is This Biostar Motherboard A Worthy Purchase? I'm pulling my hair out here, trying to figure out if this is a good investment... Biostar A740G M2+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138112 I want it primarily for a HTPC, due to it's DVI port. It would rarely be used for gaming, although Colin McCrae's DiRT would be a possibility. Will this integrated Radeon HD 2100 have enough power to run a game like DiRT or should I keep looking? I'm not planning on making a fantastic computer. I just want something that has some power, and can handle at least minimal to moderate gaming. It's been said that the HD 2100 will cover the basics and a bit more. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

IDE devices not detected on Biostar NF325-A7 motherboard. What to do? I just got a Biostar NF325-A7 motherboard and it does not detect any of my devices (80GB HD, DVD-ROM, or Floppy). Award BIOS shows this at startup: IDE Channel 0 Master: None IDE Channel 0 Slave: None IDE Channel 1 Master: None IDE Channel 1 Slave: None IDE Channel 2 Master: None Floppy disk(s) fail (40)one At first I suspected the drives weren't getting power because it doesn't feel like they're spinning, so I switched power supplies, which didn't help. Then I tried: - Switching out IDE cables - Isolating the devices (one connected to MB at a time) Both the HD and DVD jumpers are set to Master. There are no jumpers on the MB pertaining to IDE devices. Any other suggestions? Can the board be bad?
How do i unlock my Phenom II x3 To a Quad Core With Biostar? I have a biostar motherboard and a Phenom II x3 720 processor, i was told i can unlock this into a quad core by going to advanced settings then advanced cpu calibration and setting it to Auto. I have done this twice and both times when it went to reboot it just sat there in black screen. I was told by some people to keep trying it that it can take several times to do this and to keep trying, i was also told that it is a symptom that my fourth core was defective and finally a third camp told me to update the bios?? Does anyone with experience and not just guessing have an opinion? EDIT: I hear somewhere you can get the old bios version, any links?? Instructions?
Why doesn't the audio on my computer work? I recently switched my hard drive from an emachines to a custom computer that runs on a Biostar motherboard. What does SLI mean and will SLI ready RAM work fine on a Biostar motherboard that is not SLI ready? I am building a custom computer and found that the RAM I bought is SLI ready and was wondering if that would change performance, and would it effect the computer working or not on a motherboard that is not SLI ready? When i got the computer together, the monitor did not work and i was wondering if that had something to do with it? (i have tried multiple monitors so i know that isnt the problem) everything is onboard right now too and has an ATI 3200 chip set. thanks in advance :D
New motherboard issue biostar-a770 a2+? just got shipment in last week. biostar a770 a2+ was noticable defective, bent i/o ports, various capacitors bent at 20 degree angle. rma'd, newegg was awesome on that. got replacement in. Hooked everything up on static free mat and proper gloves. processor first, stock heatsink(windsor 5600+) clamped and plenty of thermal juice :) (rosewill 500w) 24pin from powersupply. 4pin 12v connector, 2gig gskill pc6400. psu lights up for half a second and cuts off, cpu fan doesnt spin. no light on motherboard. So far!! i've tested psu on another system, works just fine. used cmos jumpers to clear the cmos. and thats where im at. trying to stay sane before i go to work tomorrow & test processor in another system and try an alternate processor in this motherboard. anyone know of any issues with this motherboard?? assuming it is not doa. i've read that you need bios update for quad cores, but dual-cores should work straight out of the box correct?? any help appreciated.

Any clues as to if the Biostar A770 A2+ will support up to 140watt processors? Biostar is a bit vague at listing something that specific on their site. For reference, here's what I'm running now: Biostar A770 A2+ (Socket A2+) AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2-800 G-Skill CS5 ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 PCIe x16 2.0 ~650watt PSU 24pin + 4pin + PCIe 6pin 3 x 500 GB SATA 7200rpm 3.0GB/s Western Digital HDD Windows Vista Premium 64bit & Windows XP Professional 32bit I tell you what, ive got enough money to buy a $140 - 200 board and for that processor at$170 with free shipping, that isnt that much money to loose. Thanks guys!
