I Have seen the list on ECS website of compatable CPU' and it can take a pentium 4 3.2ghz 512kb levle2 cache, with up to 533fsb. im currently running a 2.8 ghz celeron 128kb and i think 400fsb. the question i have is to do with ram. the m/board states it can accomodate 333/266 ram, but if ive got fsb of 533 wouldnt i be after something more like 1060 ram.and ive got 2 ram banks with 2gb capacity overall, so 2 times 1gb. your thoughts are much appreciated

More Troubleshooting?!!?! PC Shuts itself Off? My Mom's laptop is crap - and so while i try to fix that problem, I too have my own problem. I've loaned her my good ol' reliable eMac (Which I'm using right now to type this). The reason being (For using my eMac to type this) is that my PC is just shutting itself off, no warning. I'll be on the internet (In this case i was taking my online english 2 class) and I'm prompted "Are you sure you want to close Safari?" (This is a PC, so I'm using Windows version of Safari web browser) before i can click cancel, the whole system shuts down. It's as if say you were to push the power button down, where windows will make an attempt to shut off properly but then, after afew seconds it just shuts off completely as if the button were held down. When i ordered this computer case it arrived damaged - cracked in pieces (UPS shipped it, of course - I prefer FedEx) So i filed a complaint to get another case. This is all leaving me to wonder that the problem may be a short in the switch. The first case was broken, so the possibility of a second defective case isn't far-fetched. Here's a little bit of info that may help: I've installed Windows 7 recently, running a couple anti virus scans with nothing showing up (I have Avast! Anti-Virus and before i had CA Internet Security Suite). It's not Windows 7 and It's not a virus either, from the beginning this computer had power problems. I went so far as to replacing the power supply. From day one i had problems starting the computer. It would start then almost immediately shut off. Repeat the process several times (Sometimes it'd be as if it were never gonna start) until it actually turned on. Eventually that problem went away but then i would have the computer just power off (Like what it's doing now). ^This one^ makes me believe that it could be a mother board issue. I have an ECS Elite Group Motherboard G31T-M An Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 OC'd from 2.5 Ghz to 3.2 Ghz (This may look like the culprit, but it's not because I had this problem even before i OC'd) I went from what i thought was the problem, a 580 Watt PSU to a 400 Watt PSU (Only PSU i had left), and still the problem occurs. I have 2GB or Kingston Ram An HIS RADEON HD 4670 1GB Lastly, a 500GB Seagate Hard Disk Drive (Which most likely has nothing to do with the issue, but These are the SPECS) So please tell me what you think? I replaced the PSU, There's no viruses, It's not Windows. Is it the power switch? The first case was damaged. My main concern is that the symptoms could be from a bad motherboard and thats why i come for help. I want to be sure if it is the motherboard before i dismiss it as the motherboard failing and get a new one then have that happen all over again. Computer Hardware Issues? About June of 2008 i purchased the following to build myself a computer Intel Pentium Dual Core e5200 ECS Elite Group G31T-M Motherboard 2GB Kensington Ram 585 Watt Power Supply Mercedes Benz Case When the items arrived i ended up having to send back the ECS Motherboard to newegg as it was DOA. The Case also arrived broken. From the Beginning, if i was to push the power button, then the computer would start up for about 3 seconds and power down - i just assumed it was the switch in the case. I would push the button repeatedly until it stayed on for good. Since then the computer doesn't seem to do it anymore. Another issue is that the computer would just cut off immediately, no windows is shutting down just instant off right while im in the middle of somthing. It hasn't done this as much but today in the middle of playing The Sims 3, It did. Now i sent back my hard drive like 5 times and finnally this one works so it cant be the HD. I flashed the Motherboard and i have Cleaned out all dust. When the computer randomly cuts out i check the heatsink on the Processor - like when it happened today and it was cool. The computer is also studdering while playing music which never used to happen and when wiggling the mouse to de activate the screen saver, it will slow down like you would believe and almost as if its locking up. Keep in mind this never used to happen. I think it may be the mother board maybe bottlenecking however i read more and more that CPU's can do this as well as ram. Why is it doing this? Im running windows 7 64 bit. Thanks

Computer Memory Question. DDR? I originally had a 512mb memory card in my PC and decided to upgrade the RAM by putting in more. The first one i bought (a 512 mb PC3200/DDR400 184 pin) went in well to the second of a 3 slot memory board on the mobo and the PC booted up fine. However after putting the second one I bought into the third slot, (Same specs as first one) windows wont load with it in and freezes on the setup page. Can't tell what's going wrong with my graphics card, can someone help? Okay, well my graphics card (It's a nvidea geforce 9500 gt made by galaxy) is going haywire. When i bought it and installed it, it was working fine but now when i play Elder scrolls oblivion it causes the screen to scramble into blocks and pink lines. It's only been about half a month since i installed the card and i'm starting to freak out, but here's the kicker i can play red alert 3 on the highest settings and not cause a single problem! All was ok yesterday with no problems, I turned my computer on this morning and before windows loads it says CMOS settings failed CMOS memory failed I get a choice between F1 (takes me to the set up screen) of F2 which loads the default settings F2 does load windows but the time and date are back to 2003!!! Intel G31T-M Motherboard and Intel Pentium Dual Core e5200? I purchased said products above^^ for a computer im building. Well i finnished and installed Vista and my computer is sloww! My previous build was faster and it consisted of and Intel Celeron D 3.2ghz single core, its motherboard had had a Slow bus speed and only 1gb of ram and it ran vista good, not lightning fast but it was fast at times slow when under pressure, not to mention it played Far Cry 2 with little lag. So now i am puzzled, I have a new Windows Vista certified ECS Elite Group G31T-M motherboard and a Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.5 ghz (which from my understanding that both core's combined make 5 ghz) e5200 and Vista is slow, unresponsive when a cd is inserted. It baffles me, did i mention i have 2 gb of memory running at 800mhz compared to my previous 533mhz? Did i do somthing wrong? Here are some problems i notice: 1. My DVD RW drive from Lite-On-It Corp when in use freezes my computer, it is then when i remove the disk my computer returns to its natural, slow state. 2. My graphics are not recognized, i need to install the software but my computer locks up when a disc is inserted, How convenient? but wait then as if that isn't enough crap to deal with i cannot find my drivers online aafter extensive research. 3. Did i mention How Slow it is? for a dual core? my friend recommended this processor for my lite gaming and multitasking, i believe a pentium should be alot better that this... Acording to my testing Windows XP runs a little faster, not much and the opened windows lag whenn moved as in vista, but Issues 1 and 2 above do not affect me when running XP, keep in mind Vista and XP are on different Drives. Also The lags in graphics dissapear when i install the drivers and software but wait, on XP it doesn't freeze up when media is inserted as it does in vista but again they are on seperate drives. When Graphics are installed my computer goes faster and is much more responsive. However i have a problem with built in Ethernet in XP , it doesnt recognize an internet connection let alone the ethernet port as it does in Vista. I need to mention that my Motherboard is an Micro ATX so it only has one ide cable, which my hard drive and DVD ROM RW drive share. So it leads me to believe that Its my Hardrive. Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200? I posted a question earlier http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090609154714AAfOlEC&r=w but i read in so many Articles the Pentium Dual Core E5200 is blazingly fast excetera but mine is so slow! is mine DOA i purchased it from newegg im pretty sure its not DOA but its verry slow on vista. I noticed it was verry laggy when moving, say, an internet explorer window around on xp and vista, but Once video card and all were installed on XP it was fast and reponsive! However on the Vista drive i cannot install anything due to the fact that when media is inserted it freezes u so then i must remove the media from the DVD RW for it to gain the little responsiveness it has, My hard drive is old, an 80gig Maxator from what i think 2004? well anyways i tend to beleive graphics caused the laggy issue and that it may be the hard drive because my XP drive is faster.... Plus when i insert media into the DVD ROM when my XP hardrive is plugged in, it reads and installs laggy or not (i have only one IDE cable so they share one) Is it safe to conclude that its my Vista hard drive? When I start my computer the hard drive does not come on? I have a home built computer with windows vista, a raidmax power supply, a 300 gb seagate hard drive and an ecs elite group mini atx motherboard. Sometimes when I turn on th computer the boot screen does not detect the hard drive. When i feel the hard drive i can tell its not on so i jiggle the cords around and eventually it whirrs to life. What is wrong with my computer? I dont want to pay a computer tech to look at it and just tell me to buy a new one.

When I put an Athlon XP 2000 on my motherboard, the speed is slower not faster? I'm using an Athlon XP 1500, when I put the 2000 on the Motherboard, it actually shows a slower speed, saying something like Athlon 1.2 GHz. How do I get it to recognize the full speed of the Athlon XP 2000? It is supposed to be 1.66 GHz rated at 2 GHz when the XP 2000 is installed. What actual motherboard can I use(and find in the market) with my Pentium D 805 Processor and 533Mhz DDR2 RAM? The motherboard of my girlfriend PC, an Intel D945P stopped working. Its usually used by his mother to check mail and office stuff so there is no need of an upgrade, so where are looking for a replace for the Motherboard. Best deal for a video card compatible with my motherboard? Hey guys, I would like help choosing a video card for my mobo. I am not looking to break the bank. The games I want to run as best as possible are Half Life 2, America's Army, and Battlefield 2. So you can see that I don't care to spend for a top of the line video card, just as long as it runs the aforementioned as good as possible. I will also be purchasing extra ram so I wouldn't mind you telling me what type of ram is compatible with my mobo as well. Here are my pc specs: AMD Athlon Duron 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ 2.81 GHz, 960 MB of RAM. My mother board is an Elite Group (ECS) GeForce6100SM-M (1.0). As you might be able to tell, it came with an integrated video card, a GeForce 6100 nForce 405. Thanks in advance. Just Flashed the wrong BIOS !? guys I'm super frustrated and am crying right now, because I flashed the wrong BIOS onto my Elite-Group Motherboard. I chose the wrong BIOS version on the Web-site and my motherboard didn't boot up after flashing .
