Gateway Parts

I have a Gateway P series laptop. Is there a way to pull up the restore menu without disk or windows screen?

I get the gateway screen, then the blue screen and it says configuring updates, then it says shutting down. This is as far as I can go, but if there were a way that I could hit a button and pull up the restore menu, I could restore it a few days back and be fine I think. I do not have the orginal disk and since I can not get to the windows screen I can not go that route to pull up the restore menu. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? I was hoping f8 or some combination of buttons would work, but nothing so far except the boot menu.
