Laptop makes sounds when connected to wireless internet?

I have an HP dv6000 notebook and am currently using it for wireless internet in my house. besides many problems that i have had with this notebook (downgrading to xp, etc.) its been quiet for a while now. However, starting yesterday...when connected to wireless internet and actively typing or scrolling the speakers seem to be giving off this rattling, raspy, interference, static sound. Sounds similar when you bring a cell phone close to a computer and it makes the short sequence of beeps, cept this is annoying and loud. What could this be a part of? is it interference? the hp notebooks have been full of soundcard trouble...is it somethng with the driver? when i mute the speakers, it stops... but i listen to music frequently so there seems to be no getting around it. does anyone know what is causing this?
