My search bar on my computer dissappears?? HELP?

I have a new HP notebook and the blank space at the top of the enternet explorer goes away if I don't click it? So does the bottom part where you can see what you have open. The only time i can see these things are when I skim my cursor over them. So what button(s) do I push to fix this? Thank you. The first person to answer it right will get a best answer! (corny, i know)
