Gateway Parts

i really want a laptop =)?

i just started working part time in march (im 16, wil be 17 soon) im real into music and photos and surfing the web pretty much computers =) im trying to decide wether i should get a computer or not the one i want is like 1000 but i can get a 12% discount through someone i know =) and then 50 dollars more off from the same person. so like 160 savings ( its a little less than 1000 ) i really want one, but i just got a computer in december. but it was my sisters used dell ( not a laptop) but she got a laptop for christmas and gave me this since then ive gotten real into computers and using itunes and taking pictures and everything. and i really want a laptop. but my mom as kindof been hinting that i shouldnt use my money like that ( if i got the comp i would be spending all of my savings account on it) but the thing is that i wouldnt have to buy it all at once. because dell does plans like 30 dollars a month. and with my connection i wouldnt have to pay interest should i get one? just clarifying. by my connection i meant the person im buying it through and i already know what computer i want its a dell inspiron 1525. if you know about this computer can you tell me if its good for downloading music through itunes and managing my music through itunes and storing pictures ( and possibly editing the pictures) and surfing the web quickly. thanks =) -cole i dont want a pawn shop pos

  1. but one at a pawn shop
  2. Sounds good.. I would recommend adding another GB of RAM (memory) to it. This will make the laptop quicker for your media. In this day in age a computer is becoming a necessity.
  3. Virtually all modern laptops can easily do the things that you want to do. The Dell Inspiron is a very good laptop and will be fine. There are loaded laptops for around 600 like this one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=3701106&sku=T71-15021&cm_re=Homepage-_-Spot%2001-_-Laptops_T71-15021 but the Dell is good too.
  4. walmart has a cheap toshiba 2 gigs 120 hd and more 398 only and i know this company that sell laptops for cheap bucks email him at benteck_support@live.com
  5. i have a dell inspiron 1520 (the earlier version) and i love it, so i think that if you want it that bad, go for it! as far as itunes goes i haven't had any problems and in fact found it easier to use than on my parents computer. i personally find that photos are really easy and fast to upload and browse through, I'm not sure about photo editing tho because i don't do that. Games and Internet use is also quite fast. altogether i found that the set up on mine was fast and easy. i hope this helped =]
  6. Dell does plans like $30 a month but you need a CREDIT HISTORY which you do not have. Hope the person you're buying from can handle paying $30 a month payments on your behalf. IMO laptops are overrated, I've gone through 2 of them myself. My main turnoff is that you're paying too much for the performance you get. Yes you have portability but what good is it if you want to do more things later down the road? Anyway if you want to get a laptop really bad then get one. You still have a lot of years ahead of you to earn more money right? I wouldn't buy it from a person you know though. I'd ask your parents to buy it for you and then maybe you can pay your parents off. Usually if you buy computers through credit the interest rates are insane, some to the tune of 27% or so. As long as you know what you're getting into hardware wise as well. Remember an Intel GMA X3100 isn't going to run all your games at a high resolution and at smooth framerates so if you're thinking about medium, casual gaming like CoD4 I'd get a different model that can at least give you a GeForce 8400M/9400M. Depending on what you want to do any sort of processor will work fine. If you just want to edit photos and listen to music a Pentium Dual Core will work fine. If you want to edit videos and if speed is essential to you then get a Core 2 Duo equipped laptop.
  7. Well,,idk about dell i mean if you feel that you really want one then buy it. but i do reccommend just looking into HP they could be bit more oricy but worth it. but hey if you want it go get one because sooner or later you going to have to get a new one
