Does anyone know how to dispose of old computer hardware in an environmentally friendly way?

It seems like in Singapore we got a lot of companies touting their policies for recycling computer parts, but none of them seem to have a collection of any sorts for the man in the street. I'm hoping there are options other than just dumping the hardware in the rubbish and adding mercury to some landfill somewhere. Can anyone advise on any pick up or drop off service I could use?
