i have a compaq presario notebook and i was using aim and my computer froze and so i restarted it using the power button..it then started up again and said a scan is strongly needed to check files and it was on a blue screen and it ran in 3 parts and something came up about corrupted and orphaned files and i let it run thinking that it would make the computer run faster..apparently not the case..now it turs on and says "we apologize for the nconvience, but windows did not start sucessfully. a recent hardware or software change mght have caused this." and i can choose to start t in safe mood, or last known good configuration or start windows normally..ive tried all of them. nothng works and it justkeeps restartng..please help me fix my computer!!!

  1. go to a shop and have them fix it!
  2. I would try removing the battery and leaving it off for a bit, then restart it.. also make sure when you do this don't have the AC adapter plugged into the wall as it will give it charge.
  3. Do you have your CD of installation?! if you dont, get one! download it if you have another computer. place your cd in your pc then restart it. it will boot your system then just format your pc. follow the easy steps and them youll have your pc like new.:-)
  4. if ur computer does not start in safe mode then u have 2 options either to repair the windows or re-install it. for this u have to insert the window cd into the drive and let it run, then it will ask u what u want to do just follow the procedure shown on he screen. if u r not confident then let it be done by expert.
  5. Use your Windows disk. If you don't have one, download one on another computer. There is a "repair" option if you boot from that disk. Since it's a notebook, there's also a chance there is a partition set aside for recovery purposes. When the computer boots up, pay careful attention to the "press F5 to enter recovery console." (It could be F2, F10, F12, or almost anything, so just pay careful attention.) This will be the easiest way, but only if a recovery partition exists.
  6. This is known as the "blue sreen of death".Go to a computer store and talk to the technician. You may also buy the recovery discs fom Office Depot,Office Max or any computer store-recommend System Mechanic 8.Using the "F" buttons as mentioned above, will only take you to the screen you described. If you use the restore disc that came with the computer or a download from another computer, you will lose your programs-many say you can do a partial restore(not lose programs), but most of the time you lose your programs anyway. If you use a tech, remind them you want to SAVE your programs. If you can see the"start" icon, you may be able to restore your system to its precrash point.Click the following sequence: start, all programs, accessories, system tools, sytem restore, then restore my computer to an earlier time.Hit next and chose the date it last worked or the last restore point. From there, it is automated. This is for XP-not sure about Vista or earlier versions of Windows.
