Gateway Parts

PIONEX computer a friend was throwing away..Are parts from this brand interchangable with Gateway or HP?

wondering if the Memory/RAM would work in these two brands?Although I was going to check it out online with her and see what it looks like.It has Win98/NT..

  1. The only way to know would be to open up the computer and check out what parts are in it and what sort of ports they use and what their specifications are. PCI type cards should be able to be installed in newer computers. Most RAM chips use a different port, however. Also there may be blocks installed in the Gateway or HP computers that would limit what could be put in it. (I encountered this problem while trying to change the dial-up modem in a Gateway). Your best bet would be to get the part numbers of the parts you want to use and check with HP or Gateway to find out if they are compatible. A good technician might be able to find the answer quickly. Also, if your HP or Gateway are under warranty you might void that warranty if you try to install new parts yourself.
