How to construct a laptop by yourself with around $1000? Where to buy the parts?

I have an old Gateway solo and can use the shell. The laptops on the market that are under or a bit over $1000 does not meet my need. I want to construct one myself. Where can I find the instrustions? Is there a good place / website (reliable with good price) to buy the parts? Thank you very much for your info.

1. Just about any computer store will sell the parts you need. You can also check out either www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com You can probably purchase the parts you need there reasonable cheap.
2. You may buy parts or laptops (and take parts from them) on auctions. Check your local ad. You my surprised.
