Parts and cost of building a modern computer (including ethernet and wifi)?

How much would it cost to buy the parts needed to buy a modern computer to compete with the ones from companies like HP and Dell? How do you get parts for things like ethernet and usb ports? Wifi and bluetooth? For normal use. I don't need a gaming computer, but I'm thinking at least 2 ghz and 2 gb ram for graphic and photography work.

1. uhm it depends on what your using it for... gaming? video editing, or just regular everday web surfing??? need more info... if its just web surfing then i would just look into some hp and dells, they have some great deals, look for coupons online!! they really help with the decision
