how do i take off my side panel off my HP computer?

i tried to take it off today and i took off a screw what was connected to the panel and there was another thing their i didnt no wat it was its a metal part that sticks out with a ring thru it plz help

1. Considering the fact that it is a HP, just take a hammer to it. Or if all else fails, just throw it away...
2. make sure first that it's not a lever that you have to lift - then if you've taken the screws out that hold it on then use the heel of your hand and hit it slightly, a glancing blow toward the back of the pc, that should free it up. but i would suggest that if you don't know how to take the side cover off that maybe you shouldn't. but then again that's how i got to be tech support, by screwing things up and having to fix them
