Is it worth buying a 2 year parts and Labor coverage on a new Gateway Mx6440 notebook from Best Buy?

- no
- Homer Simpson once used this very question to ensure that he had damaged his brain enough to return him to his original level of stupidity (after learning that ignorance is bliss, he had Moe perform surgery -insertion of crayon into brain- to stupify him) His (stupid) answer: "Extended Warranty? How can I lose?"
- There was a PC World article on this in the last issue. I recommend that you read it. Go to pcworld.com and search for extended warranty.
- Depends,if it is a 2 year coverage from best buy it self then no because your new computer should come with its own coverages and besides most things that may happen to the computer will most likely happen after the 2 years save yourself some money GOOD LUCK :)
- Don't do it !
- extended warranties are only a benefit to the company that sells them... its 100% profit in their pockets if you don't used them... which is highly likely because if it breaks it usually does it within the manufactures 1 year warranty after that its most likely broken by abuse, water damage or "normal wear and tear" which is not covered under extended warranties.
- YES especially with gateway. Best Buy has a great service plan it even covers if you drop it or spill something on it.
- Hate to break this to you connor2003 but unless bestbuy has changed their protection plan they don't chover damage such as "droping it or spilling something on it." Circuit City has plans to cover accendental damage but they cost $100 more but everyone one of their wareties covers no-hastel battery replacement 2 times a year as well as power surge damage. Which are two of the 6 things manufactuars will not cover. Needless to say extended warentys aren't for everyone so knowing that look at it if the plan is worth the money for the convence of not having to send it out to get repaired or replace the battery then go for it. If not don't waste your time and money but i wouldn't completely count extened warentys as a "total" waste of money.
