Are gateway laptops bad?

I am looking into getting a new computer. My budget is 600$ or so and I am looking for something pretty good. I came across a gateway with great specs for the price. I found it on bestbuy.com and its blue in color. I never really hear people talking about gateways so I am not sure if there laptops will last long and be good quality? My 300$ toshiba just broke after 3 years. I am hoping to get a bit longer out of the next laptop i buy.

1. I personally don't care for the gateway brand, BUT.... if you're getting it at Best Buy, make sure you buy the Warranty Best Buy offers. It's GREAT & if something happens to your laptop, they'll repair OR replace it. Can't beat that.
2. Buy a Mac...might cost ya a couple dollars more but in the long run it's totally worth it. Do your research!
3. Gateway is OKAY. I prefer HP over anything simply because it is one of the largest PC producers, and is in the Fortune 500.
