Are Gateway laptops good?

This one at Best Buy has 3 GB DDR2, Intel Duo, and a 250 GB hard drive. Along with all the standard stuff laptops have these days. It's $750. Good deal? Aren't all laptops basically made in the same factories in China but just branded differently? As I understand it, Gateway was bought by Acer.

1. You can get much better quality machines than Gateway. If you are into PC's and you have an unlimited price range, I would go for Sony's. If you have a budget, I would go for a relatively basic and reliable Dell. If you are into Macs, I would go for the MacBook 2.2 Ghz 160 GB hardrive version.
2. i'd go for toshiba satellite laptops.. and macbooks of course...
3. good yes & the tec support speak clearly & take the time to make sure U understand what they R telling U. no not all brands R made oversea's
