How do I upgrade to a larger hard-drive on my gateway laptop and copy the data from the old drive?

1. You would have to burn the data to disks or transfer the info to another computer first. Then, unscrew the case and remove the hard drive. Then put your new bigger one in its place. Then close the case. Then copy your data from the disks or other computer to your new harddrive, presumably after you install whatever OS you intend to use.
