Gateway laptops, etc..?

I just returned a Gateway Laptop because the touchpad would freeze when I was typing and it would be hard to turn back on. Gateway repair was usless and sent my laptop back to me twice unrepaired. Im not sure if it was the laptop itself or the fact that it had Vista. I know Vista has issues still. What other brand of laptops are great? What about Sony Vaio's?

1. I have said this a million times, i fight with gateway quite a bit on their tablets constantly having hardware issues. I have great service with Dell even with my home laptops. I've never had a problem getting a part nor having a system that was under warranty repaired. Or for that matter even out of warranty. I've never used nor worked on a Sony. So i can't comment on that as far as reliability but they are pricey.
2. ok let me go through the whole laptop spiel. ok gateways are never really known for being exceptional laptops. Macs(though i absolutely hate apple) are good, but they are pricey. sonys are quite pricey as well. toshibas can be nice but tend to run on the expsenvive side. asus makes good custom laptops if oyu can find an online store to customize one. dell is known for their customer services and warranty. they can be really cheap if you wait for their new model to come out, then they sell the old model really cheaply adn plus you can find online discount/coupons for dells really easily. hps are are pretty good, they are decently priced. compaqs are not known to be exceptional but they are decent, and rather cheap, and look a lot like hps. ibm makes lenovos which can be cheap no frills computers. i rrecently went into Fry's electronics and on the shelves they had some really good toshibas and hps for the price, which included 2GHZ processor, 2gigs of ram, over 120 harddrive, and a i believe they were 15" screens. they were about 1000-1100 but when searched on froogle, they were about 9000. i suggest going into a store, looking at a few good models, then look on froogle for how much they really cost.
3. YOU NEED A DELL / HP / COMPAQ / TOSHIBA / ACER LAPTOP ACCORDING TO YOUR BUDGET. GO ON THE WEBSITES OF THESE COMPANIES AND CHECK THE SERIES.
