Would a refurbed Gateway Laptop run better than my Celeron Desktop Computer and is it worth it? (specs below)?

Gateway M-1617 Refurbished Notebook PC - AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile TL-58 1.9GHz, 802.11n Wireless, 2GB DDR2, DL DVDRW, 250GB HDD, 15.4" WXGA, Webcam, Windows Vista Home Premium VS. Dell w/ Intel Celeron 2.66 GHZ Processor, Windows XP, and 512 MB RAM. I hear mixed reviews about Gateway Computers so I don't know if I should buy it or not (from TigerDirect). Sorry about the double post, this is my first question on Yahoo! I meant to point out that my Celeron has only an 80 gig HD. And the main reason why I'm asking this question is to see if Gateway is better or worse than Dell.....because the laptop I found was a pretty good deal (refurbed and all).

Yes. It's a lot faster because it has a dual-core processor which also has more L2 cache and it has 1.5GB more of RAM. Vista Home Premium is a CPU and RAM hog though but it will be faster overall. It's worth it.
desktop will always run better then laptops, just as long as desktop is not like from the 80s'
gateway is one of the best computers ever made if you are to get a cheap desk top go to gateway directly its very cheap and very good tech support i have had so far in my life 15 gateway computers please call me if you need help 215-718-3300
gateways are horrible computers i had one for about 2 yrs and the hinge that makes the screen flip up broke 4 times!! this is not because of kids or wear and tear. get a HP they have the best value for your dollar and i would trade a gateway for an HP again and again. i have had no problems with my HP and i LOVE it!
