Should I buy a Gateway laptop?
I want to buy a new laptop. I found this laptop at Best Buy. Great reviews and GREAT specs for the price. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;... Now, please also explain why or why not I should get a Gateway computer. Don't tell me to buy a MAC, that's not in my price range, and I like Vista. :] ONLY SAY YOU DON'T LIKE GATEWAY AND WHY ONLY IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED ONE AFTER ACER BOUGHT THEM!!!!!! You can say you owned one before that, but I want to hear if Acer has helped them improve. Thank you in advance! I promise to give best answer too! Even if I only get one answer! Randall: It has 4GB RAM - 320GB HD Just click on the link above Sorry about the link - here it is: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8770635&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1203815723206#productdetail Well I didn't find an HP in my price range with what I want.

- If it has at least 80 GB on the hard drive and at least 1 GB of memory, it's a fine laptop. That's also better than mine but it doesn't have what it really needs to run right.
- your link dose not work so i cant really see the info...but id go with an HP, there cheap and they work great. Just don't get a Dell they stop working after about a year.
- You link isn't working to the specific model you listed, however as far as Gateway is concerned, they used to be top-notch, then dropped to absolute bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of both product quality and support. It was almost impossible to get through to them to get a replacement part. They have much improved in both aspects and are now back in the running. I wouldn't have any qualms about getting a gateway, or any other brand for that matter. (The only exception is HP/Compaq, and Sony, but not because of product quality. Sony installed root-kit malware on PC's on purpose with some of their audio CD's so I won't give Sony any of my money, and HP sends me a monthly spam to a spam-trap email, that they HAD to have purchased, there was no other way for them to have that particular email address, and I do not EVER do business with a spamming organization. I called and spoke to them after the first spam, not giving the specific email address, of course. The only thing HP had to do was to purge EVERY purchased email address and mine would have gone with the rest of the million or so email addresses they purchased to spam, but they didn't do it, so I don't give them any of my money. Walmart & Home Depot also purchased the same list, but a phone call to them elicited phone calls back from knowledgeable IT personnel and both companies purged their lists and I have not received any more spam from them in over a year, so I will do business with these companies... Making a mistake can happen. How the company resolves those mistakes is was separates those companies who CARE about their customers, and those that don't. Neither Sony nor HP resolved the problems they caused. As far as I'm concerned they don't care about customers, only bottom-line, so I make sure I do what I can to let them know how they are doing.)
- Do you mind letting us know what your price range is? I currently own a Gateway. I purchased it before dual core processors were available for notebooks. I ran out of hard drive space because I store pictures, music and movies. I will be purchasing the hp dv6700t in the fall. In all honesty, I haven't had any problems with my Gateway, I just outgrew it. My sister has a dual core processor in her Gateway and it works great also. The only notable issue I have with my Gateway is that the case chipped and cracked. The cracking occurred at the palm rest. I have had this computer for about 2 years now and I am pretty rough with it. I'm getting the hp because I have heard great things about them and they have a more durable case finishing. You can also customize them on their website. You can't customize a Gateway. I'm sure you could find an hp in your price range at hp.com. Its hard to find something good within your price range through retail stores because you don't have any control over the components within the computer. I hope this helps. Happy Laptop Hunting! That is a really good computer for that price. No wonder why they are sold out. I would try to get my hands on that ASAP! Try calling Best Buy to order it and lock in on that price. I'm sure it won't be at that price for long.
