Acer Aspire or Gateway M-Series?

I am looking for a decent laptop. I have seen good reviews of Acer but havent heard that good about Gateway. I am looking into Acer Aspire 5100-3500 and Gateway M-6823. Over all Gateway seems to better equipped with better processor and all and it looks good too as compare to Acer. Gateway Specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo 1 GB RAM 250GB HDD DVD Burner DL Intel X3100 graphics card, upto 384MB. Built-in Webcam. Acer Specs are: AMD Athlon X2 TK-53 1GB RAM 160GB HDD DVD Burner DL ATI 1100 Graphics card, upto 512. Built-in Webcam. The price is not much different, Gateway is 649.99, and Acer is 705 - 100 rebate. Which one will you guys suggest and why? I really appreciate your help. Thanks all in advance.

1. definetly the acer. they make more stable systems.
2. Most obviuos GATEWAY... but get an HP they Price better having more stuff inside of them than any other computers, plus they are pretty good computers
3. acers crash alot.
4. Acer just bought out Gateway and EMachines so now you are going to get the same support. However according to the specs the Gateway has better specs but it just depends on what you plan on using the laptop for.
