gatewayt laptop help!!!?

i want to buy a gateway laptop 7210 gx from my friend. i read bout it online.gateway i don't lie but the gx series are good. they are good on games n stuff it got many good review like a 5 out of 5 or 4 out 5. but it came out in 2003. i'm buyin it for 250 dollars but scared that it wi break down in few years thats what i read online am i still getin a good deal. please help. i also need to buy my own charger for it. am i still geting a good deal on my car please help i need a new laptop but stil in school i just want 1 for games like sim2 n stuff. help if u can i need tips

1. i've got two words for you.. good luck! don't get a gateway it sucks *alls. get a sony or toshiba if you are in a budget.
2. I have a gateway laptop, i bought 2 years ago...and its build quality is shitty....i dont recommend gateway at all....remember...in the end...you get what you paid for
3. Depends on the specifications, and I wouldn't know how a laptop would break down. Basic rule is that if something don't work, its gotta be something small. Most likly if it came out in 2003 it won't play games very good since those graphic chips are outdated.
4. why i oppose buying used laptops: battery life might be shortened due to extensive use. why i oppose buyin used pcs (laptops): hdd and DVD-rw life might be shortened due to extensive use......anything that spins is doomed to fail in a couple of years, including fans(big problem for laptops). processors have a usual life of 4-5years on a normal usage basis. i dont know much about your laptop but if you can risk with it if you get a nice bargain.
