- I doubt you will get much at all for computer parts. Computer parts pretty much become worthless over time. You could try flogging the whole thing on eBay and someone may buy it and fix it up, but other than that I would just cut your loses and buy a new machine and dispose of your old one.
- Sure. Put it on eBay and indicate in bold letters "FOR PARTS OR REPAIR." You need to do this so some stupid buyer will not come back accusing you of selling a non-working machine. As for the price, you didn't say if it was a laptop or a desktop. If it's a laptop, it has some value because people need laptop screens, keyboards, etc. Maybe $100? If it's a desktop, it has almost no value. I'd not even bother with selling it.
- their are always people on craigslist looking for pieces and parts, their also are people who will dispose of electronic things the green way.
- You probably won't get much at all for broken Gateway parts. You can sell it on eBay and sell what you'll get, but it probably won't be much.
- If you had originally bought a DELL Notebook PC most likely you could have found the genuine parts at reasonable price and fixed it. FYI I had a similar experience as yours but got my Gateway running better than ever with brand new $70 genuine battery and then sold it. For your next Notebool PC you can't go wrong and I recommend Dell! There are hidden long-run costs that one does not initially see when you purchase a Notebook PC other than Dell, HP or IBM and later encounter difficulties or attempt buying replacement parts like a battery, or say a keyboard etc. We own 3 Dell Notebook PCs and why I recommend DELL, HP or IBM for those living in the United States is that those 3 particular PC Notebook manufacturers literally supply all the business Notebook PCs to the major corporations and Government so replacement parts are readily available esp on EBAY at even a more reasonable price than the manufacturer website. Thus in the long run, being able to get the exact replacement part extends the life on your investment. FYI my 1st Notebook PC was Gateway bec I couldn't afford Dell at the time and what a mistake is was when I needed to purchase a new Notebook battery <= costly bec not readily available like Dells... and FYI I also ran into a similar problem when attempting to upgrade the memory. Note if you are looking for DELL bargains, then visit their DELL OUTLET site... Hope the Above Info Helps!
