What parts are involved in animal shelters?

Alright im doing a science project and it is for cells. We have to choose a theme to go with what we are making and i'm doing an animal shelter. Example: the people who choose families for dogs and cats would be the cell membrane because they are like "gateways". Anyways I just want to know the different parts of an animal shelter (the animals there, the people who set up dates for you to see dogs and cats you might want to adopt, etc.) And also if you know parts of the cell then can you list how they relate? Thanks!
