Gateway Parts

I am thinking about buying a dell computer and part of the description says this:?

Also included in this system (the following options are default selection inlcuded in your order) award winning service and support integrated 10/100 ethernet (and so on..................) My point is, what does this mean?I got confused when it said default in the second sentence with the prenthensis.

  1. They're like added 'bonuses' that come at no cost to you. You automatically get them when you purchase the computer.
  2. Default=Standard. the so-called "award-winning" service (which dell does NOT have) and 10/100 ethernet (which usually comes standard) just automatically come. it's nothing you did to get them, and chances are, they'll come w/ the system whether you want them to or not. that's all. =D PS so i think i basically just said what the person above who can evidently type faster than me said. sorry! haha
  3. no buddy! do not ever buy a dell system! trust me! i have worked as a technician for dell computers! its not DELL, its HELL!! stay away from it if u wanna be happy! for more details u can contact me at mangeshome1982@yahoo.co.in
  4. That means that you get them with your order by default. In this case, you are getting free support and your PC will include a 10/100 ethernet card (to connect to a network).
  5. its just saying you get the high speed internet/network card preinstalled(trust me you want this) and the customer service... (probably will never use) you can opt. to exclude these but its better if you dont... dells are great computers, even if you dont totally customize one. by the way, i used to be a computer network tech....
  6. Actually when purchasing a dell, most of the specs that are preset, when you go to the customize area are included in the price, if you change any of the available options it will increase or decrease the price. i usually try to customize according to the needs of the user. Just recently got the e310, and didn't customize so everything that was set at the price was received without modifications. Which of course had it ship out much quicker. Online on saturday, delivered by the following monday. if you need further assistance just ask me.
  7. Hello Cer, These are features which Dell automatically includes with every computer they sell. They expect such features to be used and/or to add sales value to their product. Having worked for Dell in the past, I can tell you that the award-winning support refers to an award they got years back, and that all client telephone support is now handled by people in India. While I'm not biased about such support, most people over there don't really know what they're talking about and just read the prompts from a screen. With Dells (as with all pre-built computer systems), you never know what quality of product you're getting in the box. Most components are made by the lowest bidder ever since 2001, and therefore prone to failure. Having worked for Dell as a service technician, I recall going into a house numerous times as they sent the wrong part.
  8. Kind of off topic but I have been pleased with all the Dell's I've purchased. Now tech support(for my stupid questions) has been mostly ok, but it seems they farm out support to mostly India which a redneck somtimes has difficulty understanding.
  9. DUDE! your gettin a dell ;)
