Where does the red cable go in a Dell XPS computer?

When opening a friends Dell XPS computer I found a red cable labeled "9Y680" hanging near the mainboard. It has 9 pin holes yet I can not find the location on the mainboard as to where it should be plugged in. When searching this part number (the 9Y680) all I got for additional information was: Round Red Cable that Runs from System Board to Front I/O Panel for IEEE 1394 Can anyone explain or show where this 'red cable' is suppose to plug into the system board?

  1. The board fitted probably does not support the front panel connection. Do not play with this, you obviously don't know what you are doing.
  2. IEEE 1394 is Firewire. If the motherboard doesnt have firewire pins on it then they could not use the cable. Does the case have a firewire port on it, or a spot where a firewire port could be?

  4. The red cable goes into a piece of junk..ie Dell
