- Yes it is compatible. Just open up your computer and put in the RAM chi pinside. If you are not used to working with computers, get a pro to help you. You SHOULD have am empty space there.
- The issue isn't HP versus Dell, it's all about motherboards and RAM. You'll need to find the manual for your motherboard (if it's from Dell then you can go to support.dell.com and enter the serial number and get the info) and find out what kind of RAM it takes. Then do the same for the HP. There are different types of RAM - some computers take ECC, some take non-ECC, there's parity and non-parity, and there are different speeds and configurations. Here's some info on how to do RAM upgrades: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,18024-page,1/article.html http://www.computermemoryupgrade.net/ http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=985 http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/24/navigating_the_memory_upgrade_jungle/
- The beeping is most likely a BIOS error message. Download the manual for the motherboard and look up the BIOS error beep pattern. This will help diagnose the problem. Yes, the RAM will work if it's not fried. RAM isn't a proprietary component so switching it between brands doesn't matter. However, there are different speed of ram. You may have an incompatible speed or type of ram. Installing ram is easy. Usually it either slides in at an angle and then stands up, or is goes in strait and clips at the end rise up and 'grab' the ends. Removing the latter type is done by pressing those end tabs down and away, so you should be able to tell by looking if there are ends designed to be used that way, if not, install using the proir method.
- As long as the RAM speed is the same (PC133, PC3200, etc), and it is the right type of module (DIMM or SIMM), it is compatible. You just need to know which type and speed your computer takes.
- yes hp ram stick is compatible with a dell, maybe the type of ram is not compatible with the motherboard in the dell pc. PLEASE NOTE: when installing it. try it once doesn't fit try it the oppsite way. And try not to put too much pressure on the stick because might damage the slot.
