Need a RAM chip for my Dell Computer?

I have a Dell Dimension 8200. About 3 years old. I am not ready to buy a new computer yet. It works fine, however I would like to have another memory chip. I called Dell and they told me that this system was shipped to me with 1 512mb chip. The dimension apparently used very expensive memory. I do not have the exact number. I was making an inquiry as if anyone out there may have a USED chip CHEAP or a whole 8200 computer that i could buy as a parts machine?? Please send your response direct to my e-mail address as i can never find answers here after I ask a question. Thank you all. Thank you all, but i have already checked. Even Tiger Direct wants over $250.00 for it. I just want something to hold me over until i buy a new computer. Thanks again.

  1. The Dimension 8200's take PC800 RDRAM, which is pretty expensive.
  2. Don't buy from Dell direct, the price will be prolly twice what anyone else charges. Use the Crucial Memory Advisor™ Tool to find out what kind of RAM stick your computer takes: http://www.crucial.com/ and then go to Tigerdirect to buy it: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=10 Adding an additional 128 or 256 MB of memory should be fairly cheap. Good luck.
