how good are gateway computers?

hello I am planning on buying a new computer this Saturday an I found a great deal at a store, the computer is a gateway but I have never had any computer of that brand....I would like to know how good it is and how durable it is???

2. in my opinion..they are crap..its hard to upgrade it, because they only take certain products..their customer service sucks, and all and all, you can get a hp that does the same thing cheaper...but thats just my opinion
3. I have always bought gateway laptops since 1997. They are good and reliable, if you treat them right. My girlfriend had a couple of gateway desktops back in the late 1990s. And she hated them because they would always break. As far as this computer you plan to buy on saturday, go for it, it should be fine. However keep in mind that you want a lot of space on your hard drive, and at least 1 MB of RAM to properly run Windows Vista. And any processor out there is good. Also gateway has recently been bought out by ACER I believe.
4. I'm typing on a Gateway laptop at this moment. I love my Gateway and have had absolutely no problems with it.
5. They are not what they used to be. My first 2 Gateways were decent and rarely had problems. I then bought one of their laptops recently and had nothing but trouble which was both a software and hardware issue. The software issue was their XP installed with their system restore feature which created a virtual drive to back up files in case of a crash. The hardware issue was trying to find a compatible memory card that didn't cause unexpected restarts. They are more interested in profit now than anything else. Also, their driver updates are a pain to find on their website.
6. i have a gateway and it works great!!! i dont get why people think it's a crappy computer. but all i use it for is for games, essays, music, and surfing the net. and also for talking to my friends on IM. i say gateway is a good computer but not like high tech like an apple or hp or whatever but it stills works great!!
7. Hi! I just received my Gateway. It was D.O.A. Customer service has tried to help me. So far, they have sent the wrong parts, overcharged me and tried to charge my credit card for someone else's purchase. It may be a great deal at the retailer. Long term? My experience says that you will get jacked.
