Gateway Parts

i heard acer bought out gateway computers. Is this true?

I ask because someone at work told me this. I am looking to get a computer and always heard gateway was good. then I started to hear about acer(good things ). So I am just curious.

1. YES.. it's true... it was announced on CNBC a couple of weeks ago
2. The plan is, as of right now Acer will be merging with Gateway, and assume ownership by the end of this year. This will include all parts of Gateway, with the exception of the professional business section, as someone else is in talk to purchase that. The link below is the article regarding this purchase. 3. Yes they have and Acer is still garbage its a cheap unreliable computer and Gateway is and over priced computer that cost alot to upgrade stay clear of both for at least 2 years
