Why is this processor not working on my gateway computer?
I recently bought a core2duo E8400 @ 3.00Ghz but when I install it and turn on my computer, it doesn't give me the gateway screen and doesn't start up. The model is a Gateway GT5622 Desktop and uses a socket 775 which is the socket for the e8400, do I need to touch the BIOS or something?

- your motherboard may not support the FSB of the new CPU...you need to check the website, and maybe a BIOS update if one is available
- You have to enter the BIOS settings screen and: Load Default Settings Save and Exit d;o)
- Well the information latin root word for info processed that GT5622 may be the problem. You could try getting the new hard drive GT5622 I had this same technical difficulty with my core2duo. Honestly bud? I got no cluee =] haha
- Just because the Socket is the same it doesn't mean anything with the same socket configuration will work. Name brand computers are the worst ones for that type of thing. They build cheapest as possible. When your computer was built the CPU you purchased was only a dream in some engineers head. You could check to see if there is a bios update for that problem but i doubt it. looks like you're buying a compatible motherboard. People should research and or ask before they buy.
- Hi, Install the old cpu back and try to upgrade the bios. if the new bios supports the new cpu it will work when re-installed. if not your motherboard does not support it. Best regards, E.T.
