How come when i turn on my gateway computer it says media test failed, check cable, system halted?

i just got my gateway computer fixed and how come when i turn on my gateway computer it says media test failed, check cable, system halted? i have to change the boot devices if i want to get on. When i go on i have to cahnge it to primary boot cd secondary boot hard drive. And then the next time i turn my computer on i have to make the primary boot hard drive and the secondary cd or else i just get the message again. And when i change the settings it boots slow.

1. Take it back where you got it fixed. Make them fix it properly.

I got this too, i took it to the computer guy, and he told me that my motherboard was fried along with the hard drive. try this: open up your computer and look at your motherboard (BE SURE TO GROUND YOURSELF) you'll see these little battery looking things and if they are swollen, then the motherboard is DEAD. thats what happened to mine =/ i tried to insert the OS cd, but no dice i just bought a new computer. hope this helps
