my hard drive is broken.anyone good with gateway computers?

my hard drive won't open.there is no little button or anything.NO,you can't put like a paper clip or a pin into some hole.there is no hole.and even though i shut it down and restart everything,it still won't open.everything is plugged in.m computer is a gateway 702GE.

  1. you need a new DRIVE take it to a PC repair shop.
  2. I hope you have your original system disk came with your computer. You will need these to reinstall the operating system. Replacing a hard drive is relatively simple. Best buy, Circuit City, staples or Office Depot sell them. You can pick up a 300 GB for about $90.
  3. Yeah... I think you mean Floppy or CD-ROM. 'Cause generally hard-drives don't open... Do a bit of research and repost the question.
  4. Enter the bios as you boot {usually by pressing F2} and see if the drive is listed as installed. If it is plugged in (power and ribbon) , the jumper is set correctly on the back, and it is recognized in the bios, the drive is probably dead. Also, make sure the ribbon cable is plugged into pci 0., usually colored with a blue socket.

  6. It's possible your hard drive has failed. get someone who actually knows computers to look at it.
