anybody know how to get rid of viruses?

well, i have a gateway laptop and i been having it for 2 years probably. well lately, i been having TONS of viruses. Sometimes, websites just POP out at me and now when i try to use something, it won't work. Like i tried to play maplestory. i clicked it and nothing poped out. i did that for like 30 times and nothing poped out. I have alot of viruses. Also, when I turn on my computer, the part where it saids Gateway, it just freezes there. Sometimes, i can't even use my laptop since it won't work. Anybody know how to get rid of my viruses? i have tons of viruses and i don't know what their names are. Someone help! Please, no websites that just scan things but doesn't get rid of viruses. Thanks!

Buy an antivirus program from a brick and mortar store or just start over. Use your recovery disks to reload Windows.
Use the free version of AVG anti-virus to scan and clean up your hard disk. You could also reinstall the operating system.
if you really think that you have tons! as in so many! viruses, i suggest you reformat and reprogram your laptop, but dont forget to back up your important files to another disk before doing so. since its kinda technical, i also suggest to bring it to an expert, there's probably one near your place to do it. this way he can also check your laptop for other defects that might as well affecting your laptop's performance.

Well, I've used Avira Antivir, AVG Free 8.0, and avast! Home Edition. My favorite is Avira because it's German made so it's good. You can go into the settings and make it download and install updates automatically and you'll be fully protected. Avira does like ALL the blocking of viruses on my computer, I use AVG and avast! just as a backup in case a new kinda virus sneaks on my computer that isn't in Avira's database but in one of the other's....but that day hasn't come yet.
When will you and others learn? Buy and install a good Internet Security Suite. Its $45, like 90 cents per week. All the FREE stuff is rubbish. How much is a can of drink or a latte per week?
