Gateway Parts

Who makes a high end XP compatible laptop?

I know that Dell and Alienware do but Sony, Gateway, HP, Toshiba apparently all only come with Vista. Are these computers configured to handle XP or will wierd things happen if I change the OS. Thas what the guy at Best Buy said. Visual Basic doesn't seem to like the new Vista a whole lot and I don't either yet. Most of these new computers are more mass produced it seems and I get the feeling I might not be able to do a simple task like take it apart, wipe the dust out and put it all back together. I'd rather have a laptop thas more like a desktop, with interchangable parts, instead of a mini calculator that you throw away when the battery goes dead.
