can i upgrade the GHz on my gateway pc? ?
the GHz is currently 1.8. the minimum requirements for a game i want to play is 2.2. everything else excels by very far except the GHz, and my computer shuts down now and then after playing a demo of the game because it starts to overheat. whats the most i can upgrade this Ghz to if i even can? i know you cant upgrade parts on a laptop but is this different since its a desktop replacement? it just seems really low if i cant play this game just because one of the minimum requirements is off by a little and i cant upgrade it. thanks. here is the computer i bought it last week at best buy. http://www.gateway.com/gaming/pseries.php on their site gateway can overclock the cpu for you but its only for a certain model of the fx series. not sure if its for the one i have. p4 requires 2 GHz and intel core 2 duo requires 2.2 both for vista. which i have.

- Probably the game's minimum requirement is for a P4 and you have a Core2. Your 1.8GHz Core 2 is way faster than a 2.2GHz P4, so you meet the minimum requirements. It's hard to be sure because you're leaving out a lot of details. If your computer overheats, you don't want to use a CPU that's going to produce more heat. You should look at fixing it before you look at upgrading it.
- Don't recommend overclocking. If it gets hot now it will only get much much worse if you overclock. If it is a new gaming machine then I am surprised it doesn't work on this game. Try lowering the display options a little. Also, demos are often not as efficient as the full version. In reducing the file size for downloading the game developers often shortcut on the amount of optimization code - or specific chipset support - included in the game.
- Upgrading the processor will cause it to generate more heat so you will also have to upgrade the fan. You will have to check with the manufacturer to determine what the processor is upgradable to
- The only I wil recomend it is to check in the sites for overcloking since you have a brand name PC if you remove the procesor it will make your bios going crazy, and maybe do not recognized your system, and you has to reinstall again, I know so far if you overcloking you have and put more cooling your PC will work great and if need to you can go back to the deafult settings in their bios, when you adventure in to this waters, you has to know what you mobo it is about, what you bios is all about and do not go blinfolded, you are the boss get the info you need before you get in there, after that it is only you. For start go to this site and look for overclokin, http://www.maximumpc.com
