Is a battery in cd-drive appealing to you?

I have a Gateway Solo computer that has an addon that allows you to get an extra part (a battery) to put in the cd/dvd slot on my laptop. It's supposed to make the laptop last 8 hours (including the regular battery). Do you guys think I should get it? It's spendy, and heavy.
