Gateway MT6916 question/issue?
I have an issue. I am currently covered under the Gateway One Year manufacturer warranty. The alt key on the right hand side of my Laptop has broke off...I called gateway about it and they gave me two options, I could send my computer to them and they fix it, or they could send me the keyboard and I call them and we replace it together over the phone. I choose, 2 weeks ago, to do it myself with their keyboard. I received it today. Gateway scared me out of doing it myself and now are mailing me a box to mail my laptop to them. They said for people who have never done this before, it is too risky. Then, I just found out that Circuit City AND Best Buy both offer help and they can service it (if I already have the part) and they BOTH only charge $39.00 for this service. I don't know what of these four options I should do. What would you do. Would you trust gateway, yourself, Best Buy, or cirucit city...HELP ME!!

- I'm a computer tech, so I would do it myself, but in your case, just take it to a computer shop and have them do it. I would avoid Best buy and Circuit city as those guys are $10hr wanna be techs. Take it to a professional, it should be about the same cost. if you ship it to gateway, it could take a month to get it back.
- I was in almost exactly the same situation you where in with my Sony Vaio. Maybe this will help you. I found LaptopRescue.com and I decided to send in my machine with them. It cost me $20 for the box they send, and $149 in total for the repair. They sent it back to me within 1-2 weeks and the entire keyboard was replaced. I would highly recommend based on that experience that you stop anything you're doing with Gateway and punch up this site. They are located in ME. I use them as my vendor for my company and they have really delivered for me. Let me know what you think.
