would the sims 2 work with a gateway SOLO?

ok my dad gave me his laptop and its about umm... id say 4 years old and i was wondering would the sims 2 work on it? i have the sims delux and it works fine. my sister has the sims 2 and she gave it to me but the problem is she lost the first disk. so i was thinking of just buying it and i dont want to spend my money on another game that wont work. i have the movies and csi games for computer but they dont work on my laptop. i am praying that it does work. can someone help me out?
