gateway solo 9300 distress call helppp!!!?

my gateway solo after tryin to install xp professional in bios says after it reboots it says "non-system disk or disk error replace and press any key when ready" go easy on the pc lingo im a mac person i tried removing floppies and cds butnow it says operating sytemnot found

1. You didn't make the harddrive bootable.
2. Sounds like you have a non-bootable disk in one of your drives, such as a floppy disk or a non-bootable CD. Remove all disk from your drives and restart your machine.
3. boot from win-xp cd type fdisk & check file system is fat32 or ntfs check to see if c: or partition c: is 'active' can u plz confirm, then i can proceed next _________________ after checking system config for the solo 9300 lemme advise u against win xp suited for win'98 & win me, no higher !
