How do I connect two computers in separate rooms using AT&T's gateway dsl modem.?

I've heard that AT&T's gateway dsl modem is also a wireless router, if so, what is the cheapest way to connect two computers to the internet without having to run cables up and down my hallway or through my walls? I've read links on other websites suggesting USB antennas, can those be used, how do they work, how much do they cost, and where can I find them?

1. You need to get a router to connect to the DSL Modem.
2. If your modem is also a router, you simply need some type of wireless device on one of your PC's (assuming the other will be directly connected). I have not priced USB wireless antennas but I believe you can get a wireless network card for under $20 (maybe around $12 or so). I would suggest you verify that the AT&T Gateway DSL modem is also a wireless router and get documentation on how to set it up and use the wirless feature (also setup security for it as well).
3. You need either a router or a switch. Since you have DSL, I would recommend a switch, as they are also sometimes cheaper. If you want to go wireless, will need a wireless switch, router, or AP. The reason I recommend a switch is because with DSL, you have a PPPoE connection, which requires you to log in. You will have to "bridge" one of your devices. Without advanced knowledge of your configuration settings in your router or DSL modem, this process can be difficult and confusing. Once you have your switch, you should set it up in the following manner: ---(DSL Line)--->DSL Modem---->'Uplink' Port on Switch On your switch, you will have the 'Uplink' Port plugged in to your DSL modem, and then ports 1 and 2 connected to computers.
4. AT&T uses a 2wire Gateway Router and Gateway modem. It really is a very good device. It is indeed wirelessly enabled. WPA is already set (the code is on the label of the unit between the braces [ code ] ) I have the exact same setup. All my computers are connected and locally networked as well as connected to the internet. A cheap USB stick is probably the easiest to use. They run from 12-40 bucks the lower cost ones seem to work just as well as the higher priced ones. If you already have wireless in one unit just use it, it will connect, If you don't have a wireless card just get a USB and your done.
