HP and Gateway laptops?

Im geting a laptop and my first choice was an HP but it didnt have the Intel 2 core thing so the Best Buy person suggested a Gateway but when my dad asked his friend thats a computer person he said that HP and Gateway laptops come installed with a crapload of junk installed. has anyone had a problem or noticed this?

1. I've got an HP laptop, and yes, there are some hp software on it, but they don't really affect Performance, and they are quite usefull mostly. HP Update just updates drivers and the HP software (rarely) and there are some processes which will respond to you pressing F (function) buttons, and other buttons on your laptop except for the normal keyboard. Really, its nothing to worry about. ACER has got much more junk installed. I do not know Gateway laptops, can't help you there.
