Gateway Parts

Can I add my own parts to a Dell computer?

I'm receiving a Dell XPS 420. If I wanted to, would I be able to buy a video card, or other parts, off of a site such as newegg.com and swap out the Dell card? Or has Dell made it so it's not easily done or possible at all. Thanks!

  1. yes you can swap out parts, they made it easier to do that, but just as precaution, double check to make sure that the new part is compatible with your pc
  2. You can check compatibility on newegg.com. Some things on Dell PC's will only allow Dell parts.
  3. You can absolutley add new parts in any aspect!
  4. Answer is "YES" First of all check the compatability and you are ready to go! be carefully while removing HW rem the positions and proper locations. IMP
  5. Easy situation for a desktop PC ....just make sure the cards have the correct slot fixing i.e. PCI or the like dell probably are using different cards ot their own..... RAM memory is important ,in correct type for your motherboard and compatability with what you already have in the machine ....but this by far would be the best upgrade ,rather than graphics card ......ask me more if you want regards
